Sounds like you (unlike me) have not bought six bottles of wine in an Irish supermarket and forgotten it was raining...
Now, pretty well every time I go out, take a couple of those extra-strong bags supermarkets sell. Thinking about it, aren't these extra-strong bags simply the same strength they used to give out for free 30-odd years ago? |

six botles go in a mini slim Strong box.
Held under your arm, if need be.
So any Strong Card Paper bags
will have to be water resistant.

| If you use a vehicle for shopping in the supermarket, you don't even need any kind of bag, put the shopping straight in the trolley and and in a box in the boot will do. It will be good if all the types of plastics can be recycle. |

Several years ago the satanic Tesco introduced the blue box scheme.
You bought blue boxes and they provided special trollies for them.
We still have them but the scheme was not a succuss. |

I take a couple of plastic laundry baskets in the boot when I do a supermarket shop. Take trolley to car, unload trolley into laundry baskets. I started doing this ages ago simply because frozen/chilled stuff gets covered in condensation and soon makes a cardboard box soggy/unreliable, and after a few goes could get pretty unhygienic too. I just hated using carrier bags because things like bread and fruit & veg get so squashed, and when you put the bag down thie contents rearrange themselves... I used to find escaped onions, oranges, or tinned food days later...
Strong paper bags, strong reusable plastic bags, plastic baskets...hang on, we`re forgetting the way folks used to do the shopping! Remember the old Shopping Basket? My mum always had one that was like a TADIS. Rigid, natural, and they lasted for years. Wouldn`t it be nice to see a return to the use of those good old baskets? I`m going to buy myself a basket, try and start a trend.... |

| You can get those collapsible crates ... they are handy for shopping and all sorts of things. And when they are not being used, they do not take up much room. |

Lidl has offered a range of bags for some time. Their heavy duty bag is very good. Handy if using the bus. Others just catching up. |

Just to play devils advocate using boxes is a good idea, I do it, but what about when you can't use a car for your shopping? The weekly shop is just a bit too large for bus travel, and if the government gets its way we will all be priced out of our cars and onto the buses so less room there as well......... |

Me too.
I find fishnets let your skin breathe a lot better than conventional tights. Not sure about red though, I prefer black as it compliments my eye shadow. |

Those remind me of first days at secondary school, Making The Cookery Apron....but it wouldn`t be a bad idea for kids in sewing classes. I`ll get making one/some with my grand-daughter, should be fun!
Going back to plastic carrier bags for a moment, I had a patient a couple of years ago who makes HATS out of them. I saw a few that she`d made, and you`d never guess what they were made from until you were told. She cut them into strips , twisted the strips and crocheted them. With various coloured carrier bags she had some quite snazzy hats. She`s made loads for Church sales, for her grandchildrens` school fundraisers, etc. I`ve never heard of anyone else recycling carrier bags this way. |

No wonder they`re expensive, they `re probably quite rare if they`re made out of juice cartons! Our binmen won`t take juice cartons with the cardboard.
Also they won`t take with the plastics either the clear plastic tubs from washing sachets (Persil, Ariel, etc.) and the large clear plastic yoghurt pots, the ones that you can peel the paper off to fully recycle (eg Yeo Valley) yet these packagings are designed to be recycled. I`ve washed and collected these items to put for recycling, and time and again found them left in the recycle box after the bin collection. |
