We need a decrease in civil servants not an increase for crying out loud ... the wages bill alone must be an enourmous drain our the country's financial resources not to mention the pension fund/s (oops, that is a dirty word in Brown's hearing isn't it)

It should be common knowledge by now that Browns way of getting re-elected is to make sure that as many people as possible work for the government. That way they are sure to vote for the guy who pays their wages not someone who thinks they waste too much money on rubbish. 20% of the workforce already rely on the government and in the northeast almost half of ALL jobs are government reliant. As chancellor he oversaw a massive increase in civil servants so why not get some more in the fold............

'In a written statement to Parliament, the Prime Minister said that the changes would "sharpen the focus of central Government" '
Ah , pointed heads...there you go!
