Posted - 25/03/2008 : 15:48:33 Here is a misfortune at the London Eye.
If there is similar trouble at the Brighton one, will there also be these emergency commodes?
The article does not say if anybody used them and whether, if so, other passengers looked away - or, indeed, whether the contents were then tipped earthwards.

Posted - 28/01/2008 : 21:13:33 I was referring to the Elvis lyrics. Got to admit I completely missed the Donny Hathaway song in 1971, even though I was listen to a good deal of music. |

Posted - 28/01/2008 : 20:29:08 That's a bit extreme!
Anyway, once you listen to the lyrics of the song they are quite good really.
Back to the tower. It should be built out at sea where the pier used to end. That is the only way we will get a pier.
The viewing room should then be able to submerge beneath the waves as well as rise into the sky.
It should then be called the Dunking Doughnut |

Posted - 27/01/2008 : 11:59:06 I thought the Marina tower was being flogged as a Fortnum's thing, not Walmart... |

Posted - 27/01/2008 : 11:39:36 The New Marina Tower will have a New bigger Walmart so they will be happy. |

Posted - 27/01/2008 : 11:28:55 The ghetto flats will be at KA & the Marina IF they are ever built.

Posted - 27/01/2008 : 09:23:29 It is more of a 20mins wonder. Hardly a Ghetto near that tower.
Of course if it goes wrong in a big way, with people in i, then the structure may be removed.
The private money going into the New Design project has many backers who wish to take the concept to other nations.

Posted - 27/01/2008 : 09:05:30 I hope we never get the i360. Waste of money and a five minute wonder for all the inconvenience and mess it would create on the seafront not to mention dominating it. Why does the Council go for these trashy ideas? Would like a decent sports centre though and it doesn't have to be on the seafront but if it was it could be marvelous, not the inadequate design proposed by Arghiros & Co. surrounded by a ghetto of small flats in towers. |

Posted - 26/01/2008 : 19:16:04 Let us think. What great developments have taken place in B&H the last 30 years.
Marina - originally a flop but gaining ground Ice rink - NOT Decent swimming pool - NOT Football/Athletics Stadium - NOT but maybe
Crap housing in New England Area New sports centre BUT only with flats at KA - going blue holding breath.
West pier - Allowed to rot and now...........
i360...will it ever get off the ground?
Not in our lifetimes.
Brighton & Hove - The Place to Wait for Ever for CITY facilities.

Posted - 26/01/2008 : 13:21:38 Yes, the Council doubted whether it would be viable but had to go along with it for form's sake otherwise it would be seen to ducking the West Pier subject yet again.
Northern Rock apart, it is unlikely to get enough people willing to keep going up it, let alone enough to pay for any sort of new Pier. |

Posted - 26/01/2008 : 11:23:46 A reliable source has told me that the project is now on hold as the financial backers have jumped ship due to the 'Northern Rockgate'. |

Posted - 20/01/2008 : 11:20:16 I've been looking at site and I think that the people of Brighton would benefit from my latest idea for the tower. Naturally there will be protests from outraged vegetarians.

Posted - 08/11/2007 : 07:53:39 having worked on the TA; it was proposed to fill in the steps to the regency square subway and remove the pinch point where the cycle lane slews around the steps to mitigate the conflict between cyclists and the greater number of people on the upper promanade. Also, a few years back a cyclist died when he rode straight down the steps. so the council were quite keen to fill them in. it should happen as part of the works..but you never know.
