Not local news I know, but does anyone have an idea of what the daily rate for a web designer is? I'm being quoted £250 by a company with a good portfolio. Reasonable? Or am I feeling mean?

Yes, it is all the same article. Fanshawe's support of the KA means that it will not go ahead, it says.

And the KA IP

It sounds as if Pelagia is not working any harder than Mrs Poppadum who has been ringing me up about Fanshawe.

Welcome drizzlecake. Are you a lemon drizzlecake? I love lemon drizzle cake with a cup of tea (Greggs or otherwise but definitely not the tea we get out of our machine.) (Sorry i am at work and extremely bored!!)

Thanks all, and for your suggestion, Uranus, about the content management system. Might well go down that route!

LTNS would certainly advise you not to hire Bill Gates. You may have noticed that he describes him as being as corrupt as Blair and Bush in the Greggs thread although, presumably, a tad better than them at matters binary. But I suppose Bill G would require travel expenses for the job, and you can't blame him for that.

£250 a day for alterations & additions sounds a tad on the pricey side but then there are some good agencies in brighton that could justify those kind of charges. Is there a minimum charge? Eg, they charge for a minimum of 1 day even if the work takes 20 minutes?

If you fell the minimum is pricey shop around for a content managment system.

I agree - a quote for the entire job would be better than a day rate with an unspecified length of time. All that said, whilst there are some exceptions, you get what you pay for - £250 a day for a web DESIGNER is more than fair...you'll be able to find plenty of people who'll charge you less to get a website up and running, but I'll wager their technical ability will far outweigh their creative ability in producing a 'well-designed' site...horses for courses really.

I would have thought that the best way would be to have a designer quote for a job rather then an hourly or daily rate?
