Posted - 13/08/2007 : 07:08:30 Last night I was shocked to see a man in a red car blatently drive though a red light and turn right. The light had not even just changed. We were waiting at the light in the other lane and I couldn't believe what I saw as he sailed by. So dangerous and totally against the law. Why do people think they can do this? This isn't the first time I have seen this. Has anyone else noticed this happening recently? My sister said she sees it all the time. |

If he had been taking a meaured pace, then this sad story would not have happened?

I've seen the occasional fall on buses, and I'm surprised it dosn't happen more often. It's usually small kids who just bounce and get up, but sometimes elderly people which I actually find quite upsetting (probably I'm sensing their embarrassment).
Personally I don't dare go upstairs in case the driver suddenly makes a wild stab at one of the pedals when I'm half way up. I don't see the need for drivers to accelerate sharply - the time they save is minimal compared to the time lost waiting at stops, waiting at traffic lights, waiting in traffic and having conversations with other drivers they pass. It's not worth them going fast in the centre of Brighton when they have to slow down in ten seconds' time, so there shouldn't be the need to brake sharply. |

Posted - 15/08/2007 : 00:38:57 We see it up here too, and it`s not just the `boy racer` types you see shooting the lights. It`s more common when the roads are quiet and, ok, they think they can see nothing`s coming the other way....my niece suffered serious whiplash a couple of years ago when some fuckwit decided the road was quiet and thought there was nothing coming the other way. |

at least they dont go through red, i think its more like with the 1.5 seconds from green to red, that they want to avoid. keeping to timetables, having 15tonne vehicles it just doesnt happen. but then they dont go the wrong way up north street, south down west street, straight through the ship street lights, ignore no entry signs, turn right at grand avenue etc etc etc.. |

Posted - 13/08/2007 : 08:20:30 I was out with someone last year who had a very casual attitude to the rules. She started to clear some space above the dashboard and she came across some sort of parking penalty ticket. She said something like "I don't bother with those - they can only impound the car and it's not worth anything anyway", and she just chucked it out the window - this was while driving along. Later we got stuck in traffic, so her solution was to turn off and deliberately drive the wrong way up a one-way street. She's a solicitor. |
