Even France withdrew its money from the Americans.

Ch4 News
said it was about the same as just after 9/11.

In places like Iraq...

The fact that the federal reserves are empty has very little to do with whether or not some poor bugger can repay a home loan. It is however always much easier to find a scapegoat then it is to tell the stark facts. America has over reached itself and been spending more then it has in the kitty.

The American markets label it 'White Trash Trialer Homes loans.'
They did not have the money to pay back any loan
but still the Greedy American Lenders gave millions of them Loans.
For every Loan they got a Bonus.

It may seem a Nasty term
to you but in America
it is Rich and Poor.
No Class system.
Fluffy Sheep Posted - 01/02/2008 : 00:18:57
Is he subsidising `white trash` trailer homes?
What a nasty, hateful, snobby term that is. I suggest we should focus on the word `homes` there, and before labelling anyone `white trash` trailer folks, we should stop and consider that there, but for fortune, any of us in a comfortable situation NOW could end up...
As for `investing in America`, I`d rather buy the odd lottery ticket and continue to donate all spare spare pennies to animal charities!

Tend to have a lot of private off-the-record conversations with Ben Bernanke do you?

I think you'll find that the matter is a whole lot more complex then merely 'white trash trailer homes' as you so eloquently put it LTNS. But hey, don't let me cause you to crash back down to earth. I reckon having one out of touch satellite dropping out of orbit is enough.

Evil Bush Live in California
just said you are most welcome to invest in America.

Is he Out of his Freaking Mind.
It was American banks with Dead (white trash trailer homes)loans
that Fucked up the World markets,
meanwhile America still in a mess has taken another 0.5%
from their Interest rates making it 3%.

UK's Northern Rock thought it was a great deal.

Corrupt American banks

So if the USA was closed Monday how did they cause the world crash? Your Americaphobia is blinding you to the real cause which is you. All the worlds ills can be traced to your door LTNS-everything everywhere...

Mondays World Crash

Exactly the point. Why not pick the best of each economic system? Privatising economic sectors where there is NO competition is madness; just as setting up a system where the government sets the price of a newspaper, apple, spanner, or a cup of tea. The very reason capitalism works so well is it is a self correcting system. But if you try to use it in some medical, transportation, utilities and infrastructure sectors you are asking for a drubbing* (cleaned up for family viewing). The end game for any businesses is monopoly after all, by beating it’s competition on price, value and delivery of service or goods. The problem is that some people tend to treat an economic system as a religion, becomming just as stubborn and narrow minded as fundmentalist extremeists...

They usually drive around in big black cars, often with black windows as well. They're called property developers.

I`m not a political animal. I can see some good in both socialism and capitalism. I`m not rich, and I`m not impressed by those who are, the `status` I regard as most enviable is what I`d call `Comfortable` - those who are reasonably healthy and happy with their lot, working hard but not hating it, getting fair pay and conditions. (I love a bargain, but I`d rather pay a few pence extra for Fair Trade goods)
Some people inherit, or earn, or win vast fortunes - that`s NOT the same as Greed though.
Greedy folks are never actually happy, no matter how much they acquire.

Capitalism, Socialism, Communism, Greenism!

Whatever some always wants to make more than someone else and the rules and be King!

So its all Imperialism really

George Orwell got it right, power corrupts!
Miriam Binder Posted - 17/08/2007 : 22:22:44
Within a capitalist system it is the accumulation of materialism that confers value/validity. Greed can be thought of as both outcome and cause.

Within the feudal system land was the measure of an individual's success. However land by it's very nature is a finite commodity. Materialism on the other hand is not finite as we merely need to reprioritise value and hey presto ...
Anubis Posted - 17/08/2007 : 21:58:31
Maybe "greed" is the outcome rather than the cause? On this point, I agree with the old guy who argued "the capitalist is merely capital personified and functions in the process of production solely as the agent of capital".

I call bulls**t. There's nothing wrong with capitalism, greed is the problem.

I don't think you can have capitalism without greed. The individualistic and competitive nature of the economic system encourages and rewards a greedy and self-serving nature with materialistic reward.

It is of course simplistic of me to reduce society’s ills to the economic system, as there are many factors which influence such things. For instance the way in which religion and the protestant work ethic has influenced the development of the current economic capitalist system.

You are quite right though you could start from Greed as a point of analysis, but I think you would have to look what causes people to be Greedy as well.

A dangerous situation?

Are there lessons from the past?

"Just as the post war boom was running out of steam, the war in Korea set off a new boom. It's really a made to order situation to keep business at a high level". (US NEWS & WORLD REPORT, (Editorial), December 1950)

Iran?

are Jinxed in everything.

You are right behind the USA on the roller coaster ride to economic depression...DO NOT carry any credit card debt, DO NOT bet on real estate price gains (its over folks), and if you do have debt be sure to fix the rate of interest NOW. The USA Cheney/Bush administration has driven the economic car off the cliff with gigantic spending and big tax cuts...England may be able to avoid downdraft of the deflating US economy but it will be close...
