If they are such a danger to children, why are they not still behind bars? |

Posted - 19/08/2007 : 09:53:26 it reminds me of the poor Mormon fellow Kirk Anderson,he was sexually abused by a former Mormon woman I forget her name(but she was very tasty)I kept trying to find out which prison she was in so II could send her my address I was GRAPED once,It was by a bunch of them |

Posted - 18/08/2007 : 23:38:44 Hey Moon, I though I was the Big Softie - I`m all for helping to Reform folks (not that I believe prison is always the best answer because the inmates become a sub-set of society, and make contacts, learn more about crime from each other, etc.) Reform thieves, and if it fails, it`s property that is lost. Reform drug or alcohol abusers and if it fails, they harm themselves - ok, and those they might be supplying/encouraging to follow. Reform paedophiles - and fail....NOT an acceptable option. They should be tagged, and if it works for stray ing dogs why shouldn`t it work for them? |

I don`t believe it is right to execute criminals, however tempting that solution may sometimes seem. The chipping/tagging of paedophiles and others is a restriction on THEIR civil Liberties - but so is prison, and there they cost more to keep. Letting these folks roam at large is a greater restriction on other folks` Civil Liberties than chipping them could ever be!
Yea but Chipping dosn't work. Anyone who has used a GPS sat nav will tell you how dodgy the equipment can be. When this is outsourced to private compaines to run the scheme then it's a recipie for disaster.
We'd be better off improving the prision service so it wasn't over-flowing and run by rubbish US compaines. Then it could also help reform people as well as punish them |

Posted - 15/08/2007 : 18:44:54 Personally I am all for minimising jail sentences as they achieve very little indeed. I do believe that the community has a right to know who is in their midst as I think that societal disapprobation would be far more effective then any other form of intervention. The problem is twofold however ... communities are not responsible enough to restrict themselves to ostracising and vigilantism is too great a danger.
I am a great advocate of civil liberties however I also firmly believe that transgressing the code of civil behaviour means that you can be considered as having foregone your right to civil liberty. |

Not barbaric at all really!
Yes, I guess I mean that the state isn't as barbaric as it was. Modern consumerist society shits all over community values and promotes selfish hateful individuals that commit these crimes. |

No that's state murder, not treatment. Thankfully we are not that barbaric a nation anymore. |

No, behind bars isn`t the answer, but why aren`t they tagged, chipped, or whatever? Because folks who want to keep society safe from the damage these types can do are also scared about any further encroachment on our so-called `civil liberties`. We can`t have it both ways, can we!
You can only do so much to restrict people's Liberty as you do have to balance the need of security against our civil liberties.
There also needs to be more treatment to help people who seek to pray on children. |
