Front page of todays Argus.
WalmartAsda has no choice but to stop home
deliveries to the No Go area of Whitehawk.
Staff have had enough of attacks.

Shame ... they should have stood there ground. I wonder what sort of pressure was brought to bear on the store. Whatever it was, I think a lot less of our so called authorities who, rather then deal with the issue of rampant yobbery will sweep it all under the carpet.

ASDA bows to Chav protest.

BBC Local News TV
has done a report on this.
It shows local people angry about Walmart
but also showed a hoodie youth laughing
about the WalmartAsda Van attacks.

They gave the BBC a list
which included Shopping being stolen &
Vans Attacked with stones.

Perhaps Greggs can fill the gap left by Asda with a van going round Whitehawk?

What a load of to-do about nothing much really ... It is just as cheap to get a taxi back with your weekly shop as it is to get a home delivery ... after all, we are only just above the Marina. I certainly do not intend to boycott ASDA ... they do the best granary baguette available locally!

As for the issue of 'some elements' ... yep, there certainly are 'some elements' in Whitehawk and until such time as the local community accepts responsibility for these 'certain elements' and starts acting like it, these 'certain elements' will continue to colour the picture that is Whitehawk. Holding monthly 'Crime Prevention Forum' meetings is all very well but it is action on the part of the local community that is needed ... not talking shops!

What happens to allthose wonderful "extra" policemen that appear every time there is a political conference in town.

Perhaps they can encamp in Whitehawk abd some other areas in between.

He used to be brave
now he is happy to go on Local TV News.
Infinite Poppadum Posted - 12/09/2007 : 21:18:05
No wonder the underwolrd slang for the police is the "heat" when it has Inspector Curry as one of them.

He would certainly be a brave copper if he could contend with one of Mrs Poppadum's culinary efforts.Anything left over is used to take paint back to the woodwork.

What's a 'wallpaper community people' when it's at home?

He can ome on here as Off Duty only.

Sure, about his Claims
I mean ' the Argus ' would never get him wrong.

He has been on Local TV a great deal,
he seems to think he can help everyone
with the use of wallpaper community people.
I guess if he makes it to a Old Man
he may even become a MP.

Come On Insp Curry
if you are any good
come onto this site.

If Steve Curry says that there have been no complaints made to the police you can rest assured that he has made it his business to find out that that is so before stating that. I've had my frank exchange of views with him and not always in the most convivial of circumstances. But I'll say this for him, he will not make a claim he cannot back up.

As for Inspector Steve Curry coming on this site ... firstly I doubt very much that under the terms of his employment he is allowed to do so and secondly, he is a police officer and as such bound by the rule of law and not a politician who can endorse or not a viewpoint. His coming on this site would therefore be of very little real value.

Now there's a thought ... Can I then ask for asylum in Hove Actually?
Infinite Poppadum Posted - 12/09/2007 : 20:36:51
The only answer is for Whitehawk to declare itself a separate State.
Daveb Posted - 12/09/2007 : 20:30:16
I guess a petition againsy ASDA is out of the question.
Too many X signatures!

Shop lifting losses may also go down!

The Argus has done another story on the ASDA No-Go area.

Seems that the residents are on a forlorn quest to bring the company to its knees.

No, he's just kipping on his back, Whitehawk--style.

Come to think of it, Whitehawk sounds like a Chief at whom John Wayne would have taken a pop.
Daveb Posted - 12/09/2007 : 13:00:11
Croaked!
Squawked his last.

Asda need John Wayne riding shot gun on their vans!

Poor Alex, dead at 31, would have been grateful for deliveries by the ASDA van - and would have expressed his thanks in a more eloquent way than the Whitehawk people appear to have done.

Same as every other Store.
But Due to Walmart Staff being Attacked
in that "No Go" area.
WalmartAsda had no choice but to Protect Staff
and Cancel that area out.
Infinite Poppadum Posted - 12/09/2007 : 12:13:41
I cannot see what all the fuss is about up in Whitehawk.

Cannot one of the many "white van men" over there organise some sort of system? Go round, take orders, fetch the stuff, and they're quids in. They'd have to store the other goods in a lock-up while they do this, of course.

How much does Asda charge?

Cool.

Meanwhile locals in that No Go area
will have to try other stores like Sainsburys Online
and any Van will need extra staff.
