Typical
just reported on Radio 5
the American Boss of mattel went out to China to say sorry.
The Tech Paint problem was a American Design.

One Boss of a Toy Factory in China
killed himself over this recall.

This is so typical of those Americans
who have now come clean
and said it was their own design fault
the Factorys in China folllowed their rules.

Sign Of The Times.

I blame the Norwegians. It's all their fault

Stinking, corrupt herring-wallahs.

They made the Chinese do it.

Frankly, I was astounded that these companies (I’m told more than Mattel is involved) did not test the products coming from China before putting them on the shelves. Every company I have ever dealt with has quality control teams that check products, especially those from subcontractors, for flaws. If they did not do routine quality control checks on these products, they actually ARE to blame, and I would not be surprised to see lawsuits follow….admitting it, with American courts as they are, is almost financial suicide. (sadly)

Yes
maybe they will rebrand with a New team of better Directors.

I`m not going to join in `bad-mouthing the Americans`, but whatever the reason - and I suspect Miriam is correct in assuming that Politics is behind it, I must admit I WAS pretty amazed that the American manufacturers did come out and admit it wasn`t China`s fault, and even then, even more amazing, that they didn`t try to fudge and justify themselves, but actually APOLOGIZED...

It would be the end of software development....

Oh there could be a thousand and one reason why the American manufacturer went and apologised and stated that it was not a China's fault ... Politics being a good 99.9% of them and FACT having little to do with it one way or another.

That wasn't what you said LTNS ... you implied that they stated they wanted lead based paints!

China is nothing like the UK,
you could go into Mexico, for example, and find children also working for American contracts.
Dave you point is very valid
but start you are own thread on that
it could be a great thread.
Daveb Posted - 21/09/2007 : 19:34:48
Made in China by slave child labour?
long time no see Posted - 21/09/2007 : 19:30:49
One Boss killed himself
even though it was a 100% American Design fault.

They also Reported on some UK
Toy Shops having signs saying no China Made Products.

So the Ikea Factorys & the like, that also make Toys for other deals
are doing well.

I don't belive it!

It's a climb down due to some deeper pressure put on Mattel!
