Spotted today in Southwick, two sets of outdoor Christms dekkies, sanats, reindeers, One on a house, one on a pub. Don't know if they are up early for this year, or the occupier couldn't be arsed to take down last years.

Here is a piece in which Raymond Briggs speaks about The Snowman.

Will people wake up to find that Councillor Elgood has melted?

Yes, very enjoyable. Isn't it The Drifters?

Mrs Poppadum and myself wish everybody a happy Christmas - and suspect that LTNS is secretly pulling a cracker, steaming the pudding. decorating the tree he got in Poundland's last-mnute sale - and putting a sprig of holly in the pasty.

An interesting piece here which makes it clear that LTNS does not want to be associated with early German tribes.

Outright Waste of Energy Usage.

This story also qualifies for Argus Sphelling. Though perhaps "qualifies" is not quite the word for that paper.

Why does LTNS believe that the "very old" suddenly have a craving for Christmas?

The Pope yesterday said,"the way of living out, and perceiving, Christmas unfortunately quite often suffers from a materialistic mentality.'' He is dismayed that ever younger children want great lists of stuff.

I thought the Germans invented Christmas? Anyway, presumably, anybody on his presents list will have to be content with a gift-wrapped pasty, and LTNS will be lighting a candle to pray for no lights and no tree - and no singers - in London Road, Brighton.

Well, maybe it`s because we got our full 4-week Christmas/New Year rota today, or maybe it`s because next door have put crappy lights all over the front of their house...blown fuses/started again x 3, but I do feel a certain uplift in mood, and after reading the last few posts I am really appreciating you lot all the more. All of you, Bless you`s

My hands are up (no, not up there).

And if your celery's gone limp, braise it gently in orange juice.

Roll on 1st January 2008.

I'm just off to Asda to purchase some fuel. Now, where's my melon baller ........

Daveb Posted - 28/11/2007 : 13:28:51
I am amazed that we are allowed to be so blatently outrageous, put up Christmas decorations and celebrate what may upset those of other religions.

Lets face it, Christmas is now a celebration with little meaning in the UK, other than commercial.

Hands up those who have been in-side a church in the last ten years for other than a wedding, funeral, christening etc....

Repost for this thread

Mad old El Tee
What a lout
Grumping through December

New Labour
Will soon be out
Then none will remember

Blair and Bush and all that clan
Christmas won't be cruel
Then an old tramp came in sight
Playing with his tool

Xmas is a time for giving. I imagine LT will be out there, helping the homeless by giving them all a nice big turkey leg.

Oh good grief, Daveb posted that on 17/11/2007 at 07:46:03. Since when this thread has moved on back to decorations and remained there to gain another page ... Who has upset you LTNS? You just tell me boy and I'll go and slap 'em with my limp celery (I was going to throw it out as it wasn't even useful for soup anymore but if it helps you feel better ....)

So, in what way is a festival integral to the Christian religion and celebrated for over 1000 years 'a load of old bollocks'?

It's been celebrated a lot longer than that:

Without humanity, and that includes human frailty and the human capacity for enjoyment there is no future for children or anyone else for that matter. As I said, the value is not always directly related to the costs accrued.

but my point is the Truth
the future for Children.
