Posted - 29/09/2007 : 17:58:56 Okay, in view of the latest round of complaints and the expressions of humble opinions I think it has become obvious that some posters appear incapable of living without explicit rules.
1. Join these forums is to join a community. 2. You will not like everyone. Deal with it! 3. Banter is acceptable. 4. Any assertions, when asked about them, must be backed up or withdrawn. 5. This is a public space – remember that when you embed images. 6. If you think an image is likely to shock, put a link in instead. 7. The forums are small. If you want more members to join, get pro-active rather then moan!
And ultimately … these are MY forums, if you don’t like it you are welcome to leave. Moaning, groaning and generally making a nuisance of yourself with interminable whining is likely to end up with you being booted for being a boor!
And a reminder of a previous bulletin:
Any issues regarding deleted posts, threads or members may be raised with admin or a moderator by email. Don't complain about them on the forums. It's boring, pointless and a waste of everybody's time.
Any posts relating to the deletion of posts, threads or members will be deleted forthwith, fifthwith, even.
Thank you, livewire (admin)

Is that not the point of what I said? Livewire, Forum admin, hosts, whatever.
Good point Fluffy.
the Forum admin is not the same as the Forum host. The Forum hosts are forumco who only provide the software for setting up the forums and the servers to run the forums from.
See here http://www.forumco.com/ |

Posted - 29/09/2007 : 22:15:48 Have I missed something? What is there, honestly, to complain about here? `It`s small` is a rather arbitrary criticism- compared to some forums it`s huge (I was a member of a happy old local forum that had 10 members at most for 3 years, you could go for days without anyone posting, then get a spate of busy topics. We had some great Forum Meets that were barbecues in a member`s garden.) and compared to others this one may be considered limited and parochial... so, Dammit, what do folks want?? Here`s a place where there are enough folks who post to keep it lively, and where most posters regard the others as old pals, folks you feel comfortable `talking` to, folks you like and respect, even when you disagree with their posts, (eg., me and LTNS on the topic of Christianity!) It would be nice to welcome new members, but it`sd good that they`ll have to `wipe their feet` as they enter, because we came here to leave an old forum that was a bit too `laisez-faire`. |

This is a public forum with sponsored adverts, I presume. These advertisers must pay a fee, I presume. Therefore should Livewire not also try to attract new members to satisfy these (assumed) paid for links?
This may be too booring of course but just curious.
The adverts are not paid to forum admin. It is the renvenue that enables the forum host to supply free forums. |

So lets just say someone was to assert that all problems in the UK were to do with labour, or that London Road was 2nd only to Oxford st for high quality shopping. That person would have to back that up?
A true 'believe it when I see it' moment! |
