Posted - 01/11/2007 : 00:18:36 I saw a bit of children`s tv prog, at work, some British ten-year-olds being interviewed about this news item. What struck me was, sadly, how FEW of our kids cared what was going on. But the couple of kids who did care, that was encouraging. |

Did you manage to stop long enough to breathe between posting these two contradictory claims
That's the beauty of your posts LTNS, given enough rope, you inevitably contradict yourself.
I'll leave you have the last word. I know how important that is to you |

Posted - 28/10/2007 : 12:40:50 Bloody Right they are Guilty they had to remove that girls top from every store. The BBC bought one well before they knew so they could include it on their report with that WDR Docu film.
Guilty of not doing the Checks they promised customers - they would. FACT.

Just Evil Gap getting kids to make their kids clothes.

You really should look deeper, if you are capable of that, before popping off all the time.
You have judged them guilty without so much as a moments pause to reflect. |

Slow down - no rush to post.
I never said they knew about this. But I am saying 100% Fact their Claims about their checks are false. This Important TV Docu has proved Gap Clothes being made by children.

Actually LTNS I called you a supercilious twit. You go around these forums making judgements on posters left right and centre but you scream blue murder if anyone passes judgment on you.
You are not only a supercilious twit but a two faced one at that! |

Posted - 28/10/2007 : 11:42:49 Stop placing your Western society ideals onto other societies. It was common for child labour here in the west not that long ago, and they were treated a lot worse. Is it the child labour that is so offensive or the wages they are paid? You would probably find that without these children working their families will suffer unnecessary hardship due to the loss of their wages, well done with your unswerving simplicity for every subject you address. Try looking a little deeper before you pop off all the time........ |

I could say and who in blue blazes are you to parade your not so very humble opinion as fact; to determine who is and who isn't EVIL; to decide where and what posters may post.
But to tell you the truth LTNS, it just ain't worth the effort. So I will continue to pull your posts to bits as and when I see fit and I will continue to point out the flaws in your reasoning as and when I see fit and I will continue to show you up for the supercilious twit that you are as and when I see fit. |

It is still only opinion that Gap knowingly and wittingly employed children. So far Gap are dealing with it appropriately.
It may even be a reasonable assumption I dare say given where the clothes are being manufactured however unless you have irrefutable proof that they wittingly and knowingly employed children, or caused children to be employed, it is just an opinion.
Your inability to see it as an opinion means that it is anything but humble. |

Posted - 28/10/2007 : 10:01:29 If it is indeed a case of all companies ... which I doubt very much. It is perfectly possible that a company is not 100% aware at all times what their various suppliers do. Not all societies have the same view on acceptable labour practises that we have. It is perfectly possible that a supplier may act without the full knowledge of the company that has a contract with them.
Now we can talk about whether that is acceptable but I doubt we would get anywhere. Ultimately we, the end consumers with our demand for cheaper goods, are as much part of this exploitation and the drive to seek ever cheaper sources of supply. |

GAP just have the nerve to charge higher prices and still exploit. |
