Posted - 29/05/2008 : 16:10:18 Best-selling author Terry Pratchett has described how writing books is becoming increasingly difficult following his Alzeimer's diagnosis. The Discworld author said his typing was no longer as fast and his spelling had become erratic.
This is sad but expected news I hope he can try some of the outside of UK drugs or something.

Posted - 16/12/2007 : 20:57:03 How either of you two could know what peers are beats me, you're both so devoid of reality you post on an apparent open forum that bans anything it finds too contentious.
Peers in your mind Sheep means people who agree with you. |

Posted - 15/12/2007 : 23:01:30 LT, that`s good news, Terry`s books all give the impression that he has had a lot of fun writing them, so great, let him enjoy that wonderful mind of his for as long as he can, creative mental activity can actually help to delay mental deterioration. Delboy, isn`t it generally accepted that folks should only be judged by their peers? So, do not be concerned that some little tick attempts it. Really, it`s beneath your contempt. |

Posted - 14/12/2007 : 20:24:56 What are you on about, why can't I judge others when you can?
I've seen similar wording to this before normally used by someone who has something to hide. |

Why certainly you can dearling ... just make sure you spell everything correctly ... it is oppose not appose (appose means placing something in close proximity to something else; oppose means to stand against something; to provide a counter balance) and tomorrow has two r's but only one m |

Posted - 13/12/2007 : 00:01:01 Actually, the reason I can spend my time on various forums (presuming CBecks is referring to Oxford where the Blithering Neolithic Partisans are getting a right run for their money due to the current rather scrummy situation that is developing thanks to the Warthog and his close cohorts - closer then a turd and a poophole some would have it) is because I work from home and the internet is the medium I use.
(There is something to be said for being a polyglot - translation work pays well and you don't even have to put your coat on to get to work) |

Posted - 12/12/2007 : 23:04:54 So you pay tax, or so you claim, and you think it gives you the right to rub benefit recipients` noses in it? Think you`re a hero or a martyr? I pay taxes too, and I work hard for the salary I earn, for what I get in the bank as well as what is taken in tax. And you know what? When I`M discontented at my lot, or at our fumbling Government, I think how it could be worse - we could have a bunch of racist maniacs running the country, we could go back to the Pogroms, the Workhouse. You`d love it, for all your pretended concern for the `less well-known figures who might then get the help they need`. We all know what help they`d get from your sort! |

Posted - 12/12/2007 : 21:49:31 I agree but obviously if Miriam can spend her day tapping into a keyboard on various forums she's more than capable of finding work that suits her.,
Don't see why I have to pay taxes just so she can spout of all day long. Try and do a proper days hard graft Miriam and then see how your views are affected by those that sponge off the system. |

Posted - 12/12/2007 : 21:19:52 Terry Pratchett has given so much pleasure to so many folks, and I can only wish him the ability to make the most of what health he does have for as long as possible. Early diagnosis helps. I`m sure he`d understand about people spelling his name wrongly. As for people on benefits, those entitled to them should receive them, regardless of the vitriolic opinions of those who are ignorant of the recipients` circumstances but still flap their gob about it anyway! |

Posted - 12/12/2007 : 20:35:42 Yes just think if people like you stopped claiming benefits when you can clearly do some form of work as evidenced by posting on various forums all day long these less well known figures might then get the help they need. |

Posted - 12/12/2007 : 19:18:31 That is a shame. It is also a very personal issue and concerns no one but his immediate family, his medical advisers and his friends.
He is not the first and most probably not the last. Thankfully he is in a position to ensure that he gets the best possible care unlike many less well known figures who are left to struggle with this devastating issue in isolation with very little public sympathy or support. |
