I think it was Tombstone Blues that first introduced me to this farce on the old forum. It was a picture of the "truth-a-later" or some such gadget that is used by the group to achieve "equilibrium"...And I think it was you, Miriam, that pointed out that alien spirits inhabiting Dinosaurs flying out of molten volcanoes was not that different from most religious belief if you were to step back and look at it logically, although I still think of monkeys flying out of the nether regions whenever that description is mentioned In any event , if scientology is a joke , it is a good one....If it is a religion...not so much.

Well, well, well .... It seems we are not be favoured with a UK edition.

No Mim it's done on combined weight of the number of occultists you have. In France they keep the official Religious calibration weight in a glass jar. Once your Occultists reach this weight they become Religious disciples. You then get protection in special new-labor laws so no one can discriminate against you and special NVQ lvl 1 certificate for your holy scripture to prove it's a bona fide religion.

Very nice video ... I will ask this one more time LTNS and remind you that you will be in breach of the rules if you fail to answer or, alternatively withdraw the assertion. When was Scientology declared a criminal cult. Chapter and verse please ... or failing that, just tell us where it was declared.

Rings a vague bell, that. One of the menfolk would know, but he`s not available to consult as has work in the morning. I think it was Japan, but will pick his brains tomorrow evening.

Camelot, that Moonies thing, it was quite moving, actually. Re. how long these marriages last - there was one couple, he white American, she black British, and they were still together and seemed quite devoted though they dumped the Moonie cult years ago. Another couple, he American, she Dutch, still together living in Holland, both said it was a `loveless marriage`, but they had a son, and that he was everything to them both so they were still together - between the lines, it was like they needed some excuse to explain on the programme why they`d stayed together, and needed a bit of counselling before the son leaves the nest - if only to say `habit`s ok if you`re comfortable with it`, as they so obviously were. The saddest one was the American who said he still loved his British bride, who had called the whole thing off years ago.
Not so different from any folks you`d pass in the street, really, any of them.

Wasn't there a mass wedding in Japan or am I thinking of Korea? They weren't Muslims or Mormons.
Fluffy Sheep Posted - 16/01/2008 : 23:45:06
D`you mean the Muslims or the Mormons?

What a wonderfully in-depth reply ... did it take you long to come up with that one? Or are you now going to claim that some religions came into the world fully fledged?

Anyone see that programme about the Moonies the other night? The thousands of folks paired off in mass weddings? That was sad, and scary.

Yes I have seen this before...it is very odd. Be interesting to see how long these marriages last. Though it would be hard to believe the outcome would be any worse than our current divorce rate in "normal" weddings.

Yes thats why the picked him
when he was a Top Actor years back.

That Cult is Evil
they take all your money.
That is why Germany banned them,
after a some germans in that cult killed themselves
due to massive debts to that cult.

Tom Cruise has had/ is having a very successful acting career, and he`s had some great roles. That doesn`t exactly make him a `great actor`. It`s a pity he`s letting his talent for delivering lines convincingly spill over into pushing a cult. The public are fickle, and there`s a lot more hopefuls who could do just as well if not better than Tom. When they get a successful break, he`ll become a has-been.
