A possibility that the Government will bail out newspapers.

The Argus reports today that it is holding meetings with the public in various places next week. Two of these, oddly enough, are in or near the London Road.

Does this mean that somebody on the paper is keen on pasties?

No doubt LTNS will be going along to complain about its coverage of the the London Road, which is of course the most magnificent creation since the Palace of Versailles or Blenheim.

The interesting possibility is that the Daily Telegraph and the Guardian will merge. They have both hit trouble as a result of going overbaord for their web versions.

The New York Times explains about charging online readers.

I have heard that Newsquest now print The Argus in Portsmouth and transport to Brighton etc? Some jobs have been lost in Hollingbury but no story in The Argus, unless I missed it. Now that would be an interesting report.

Here is a German view of the future of newspapers.

Here is an interesting piece about plans by newspapers to charge online.

This Mombiot piece shows how local papers always go with the vested interests' line. Readers do not want this and that is why they are not buying local papers anymore.

Do Argus journalists read this guide?

Interesting to see that "It's Shoreham airport. Some people refer to the latter as City Airport Brighton, which is fine in quotes but not otherwise." I have never heard anybody call it City Airport. Absurd name.

I see that the Argus does not allow "he erected a fence"!

Why does it forbid "enquire"? That is different from "inquire".

Newspapers are surely coming to an end now.

I think more headlins like this are needed, informative and to the point:

Not just the Argus that has a bad day on occasions...

At the top of this thread is an ad for a Spoof Newspaper - design one in 60 seconds. Even that might have better proof-reading than the Argus...

A terrible story here - and even though two people died, the Argus has "dies" instead of "die" in its headline.

As for the "award-winning" double-glazing salesman, it makes you wonder what awards they can have been - and, all the more so, why his mother went to the bother of going through all the effort of pushing him into the world. What a waste of time and energy that was. Confirms everything you might think about salesmen and "flash" cars.

The Argus here refers to a "Mo Town" record by Diana Ross.

Will the Argus's editor be arrested for assisting at the death of the language?

The Argus here has "principals" when it means "principles".

Newspapers will not survive if they have people on board without command of their own language let alone lack other languages. Perhaps they were all too busy "chilling" instead of studying.

Has the Argus found a pub in Hollingbury?

Its geography is very confused here. The headline talks of North Laine and the article itself the Lanes.

Will the Guardan survive?
