Posted - 11/02/2008 : 13:49:47 Its always going to be difficult to save old buildings as developers have to be pay VAT on materials for a renovation but not on a new build. This goes against all government policy on sustainability as well…but that is no surprise is it! |

Happy developing.

Posted - 01/02/2008 : 20:04:12 It was a wonderful building, full of surprising little twists and turns. Maybe it wouldn't have been straight forward ... adapting the interior space that is ... but an architect worth his/her salt could have done it. |

Posted - 01/02/2008 : 19:49:17 It is a shame to see it go. I suspect the layout frontage was not suitable or profitable to just adapt into flats. They could not cram enough in. I have never been inside but I imagine there are a lot of very high ceilings which waste the space.
Maybe it is best that it is replaced rather than just see it rot away. |
