Personally I detest the things. I've never liked them. But where next one has to ask oneself. The council claims it is concerned about the environmental impact of the 5-10% of balloons that do not burst at high altitudes.
quote:
But a study used by balloon manufacturers argues that the small percentage of balloons that do not burst at high altitude are unlikely to be eaten in any great quantity by one animal and that latex balloons are non toxic and biodegradable, breaking down at the same rate as oak tree leaves.

It's kind opf pointless worrying about ballons when we still haven't tackled things like power generation, manufacturing and transport.

Well, balloons or no balloons, I`m glad to hear from LTNS. It`s sad, because it takes me all my time to just keep up on this forum, without having to go to another forum just to debate with LT.

I seem to be to blame for "LT" leaving the forum !! he told me on "5" forum that because I whinged about him using the word pathetic admin stopped him from posting pathetic ,now Idid NOT complain to admin I made a comment directed to "LT" asking him to refrain from generalisation . but well it is his choice whether he posts or not!I find he is being petty, why does he blame me?

No mention of Greggs in LTNS's new haunt...

Flattered that LTNS - on that link - has awarded me post of the year. And he is right about borninhove's collages.

Admin doesn't do deals. This is a forum not a television game show!

LTNS must have fetched up (in the sense of turned up, I mean) somewhere else? Difficult to believe he no longer wishes to voice an opinion on Greggs and other stores in tandem with the shortcomings of the American political scene.

LTNS, if you are reading this: It seems you have said your goodbyes on this thread, but unfortunately I didn't get to see them.

I am sorry that you have left. I miss your posts and I miss you. I always looked on you as a friend, even though we had never met, and basically thought of you as one of the "good guys".

Take care,

Pel

Gah! LT said goodbye on this thread and now it's gone. Come back LT!
rudeboy Posted - 12/03/2008 : 14:21:06
Been on a few sites searching for "LT" but cannot find him or any recent posts!! hope he is ok ."LT" is a pain sometimes but his banter can lift me out of my depressive moods,I actually love the repostes to Miriam and from Miriam to LT,(its better than any Morcambe and Wise skits)So come on Lt stop Sulking or working so hard(he is a self confessed workaholic, hence his dislike of tramps)

If LTNS were on any as simple as a holiday, he would be wearing out the seat in an internet cafe of scrambling about for a Wi-Fi connection for the laptop with his lifetime's thoughts upon its hard drive.

Can he have been taken into custody? Perhaps, right now, he is shaking the bars and demanding that the warder fulfil his "human rights" to log in... and the warder just looks up, smirks and goes back to his newspaper and coffee.

If this is the case, then Heaven help us when he is released and we get to hear about about what s t i n ki n g New Labour has gone and done now.

Talking of hot air balloons ...

I'm getting withdrawal symptoms
If I don't get an LTNS-fix soon
I don't know what will happen

Never did trust them balloons . . .

More hot air from a council that should be concentrating on local services. As I understand it, that is their job!
Infinite Poppadum Posted - 11/03/2008 : 23:28:24
These proposed bans - such as dogs... - are certainly ballooning under this Council.

I know! Its a team of (no doubt well paid) staff who think up schemes like this one, wind turbines on Kings House roof etc all in the name of a more sutainable city.

In this era of meagre resources for basic, everday services like education, healthcare etc, you'd have thought that the more fanciful departments might ought to be culled?
Miriam Binder Posted - 11/03/2008 : 22:06:32
What on earth is a sustainability team? One would have thought that the prospect of sustainability is one of the first things to look at when contemplating spending vast sums of public funding.

Oops sorry, for a moment there I forgot we were talking about Brighton & Hove City Council. Whatever next? A committee for sharpening pencils and a water-cooler moments team?
Martha Gunn Posted - 11/03/2008 : 22:00:23
Methinx some people at the council have too much time on their hands. Was this dreamed up by the esteemed sustainability team or external (££££££££££££ etc etc) consultants.
