I have One of these in my Office because Time Is Money. It was shown on the Gadget Show Ch5 getting full marks.
3 Seconds for Hot Water is amazing. And it also does Cold Water.

I like the aesthetic. |

Posted - 27/04/2008 : 23:01:47 YUP, me too. That`s why this `kettle` thread got to me tonight! I spent a lot of time last week trying to sort out obtaining the simplest basic help for folks who were wanting to take their dad home and look after him. Too bloody late, he gave up and died today. |

Posted - 27/04/2008 : 22:51:02 It just maddens me beyond belief ... There are people that are in dire need of support and they have to struggle to get any and mostly that is just the bare minimum. |

Posted - 27/04/2008 : 22:42:49 The GP, like folks from Housing Assoc., only know what the client tells them. |

Posted - 27/04/2008 : 22:38:49 I KNOW it`s not a disability, Mim, and even when it`s almost, pretty well controlled, if folks choose to continue to work, depending on the job, they can do so, as one of my dear friends has done. This young couple isn`t the only instance of an able-bodied bloke officially let off seeking employment as `carer` to partner who has...at some stage...had and still claims to have, Epilepsy. The other young couple, he does `unofficial` work for a firm of gardeners/fencers/shed erectors... while she looks after their 3 kids unaided and without incident. Maybe they`ve got a 3-second kettle too. |

Posted - 27/04/2008 : 22:36:53 They do need a report from her GP as a rule. |

Posted - 27/04/2008 : 22:24:46 Controlled epilepsy is not a disability. How can she have a carer? |

Posted - 27/04/2008 : 22:17:10 Yesterday was the first time I heard of this gadget.I was bemoaning the passing of my washing machine, and the need to replace it. The young man I was talking to told me all about this wonderful `kettle`, and I almost fainted when he told me he`d paid around 70 quid for it, as he`s always moaning about his `Benefits` (for himself, girlfriend and 2 babies - so far) And HE used the line `time is money` as well! Please don`t get me wrong, folks, I`m not envious of his fancy kettle nor his indolent lifestyle, and I`m not knocking folks on Benefits either. It`s people like him that are doing genuine claimants no justice. He`s on the books as her `carer` but she`s never in the 4 years I`ve known them ailed a day (Epilepsy. Controlled, she can`t remember the last seizure she had it was so long ago, and I have had 4 colleagues, and 2 friends in other areas of work with this condition but who choose to work because they can) and he`s never there for if she WAS ailing because he`s out doing decorating and various odd jobs for older neighbours, for which he is paid...quite generously, he says. They got evicted from a grotty council estate for rent arrears, deliberately, he told me, they `camped` with friends then re-housed by a local housing association in a gorgeous old bay-windowed red-brick terrace in the old village, with genteel neighbours, a greenhouse in the garden, and...evidently, Clover All Around! |

Posted - 25/04/2008 : 13:52:55 Moon you can "Set the Exact" amount of water you want each time then you press just once.
So a Pot of Tea is Fast as well.
That is why this unit got top marks on the Gadget Show Ch5. |

Looks impressive, I wonder what it's energy consumption is like? If you could get an expresso filter fitted onto the end of it then we would be talking.
Yes it was on the Gadget Show ch5 uses less power than a kettle.
Bliss.
What if you are making a pot of tea? Would you have to keep pressing the button. The 3 Secs would soon add up.
Seems good for a cuppa soup or if you just make one tea in mug.
Glad it uses less energy. This is the future. |

Posted - 25/04/2008 : 11:03:40 Lt obviously follows the "JIT" system it involves everythig as a unit of cost ie shelf life manufacture components etc etc It was in the eighties a great Idea as you could do things cheaper (the system was designed by a Japanese chap who really was a head of his time, basically it was common sense but It took a Japanese chap to implement Although Ingersol tried to take the credit for the system) |
