A recent TRO says resident's will be charged 50% off parking permits for vehicles in Bands A & B of Vehicle Exise Duty. Where is the connection between CO2 emissions and parking? If my car is parked with the engine off ,it is not polluting,if it is running it is. |

I don`t think there`s enough being done for disabled drivers. I mean, a really concerted effort by all car-park staff to put a stop to able-bodied folks using/abusing the spaces for disabled parking.
I`ve seen it in Tesco and Asda car parks, in NCP car parks in the town, and in the hospital. Inconsiderate Opportunist Bastard Motorists who park wherever there`s a space, and too rarely ever get DONE for it so it keeps on happening. I reported an incident recently in a shopping precinct, but the carpark attendant just shrugged and went off about his business. |

If you are a member of "shop mobility"(£5 per year) you will be given a ticket as you return your scooter that gets you out the carpark free!! unfortunately i do not think "Brighton" does this yet but all other Shop mobility schemes around the country do |

We have a shop-mobility scheme here which is wonderful if you are restricted in your mobility but don't use an electric wheelchair; mobility scooters are not allowed on public transport. However, and yes there is an however, the shop where you have to get to is in an NSP car-park ... so if you are restricted in your mobility and need one of those shop-mobility scooters to say meander round the centre of Brighton to get school uniform or bits, or just to have a day window shopping ... You are obliged to park in the NSP car-park at the regular going rate!
There are a few (very few) disabled car-parking spaces in the centre of town, however they are quite a distance from the shop-mobility location. The nearest are on a steep road! Great thinking there batman! |

Talk about Biting the Hand that Feeds them or what!? All Councils are trawling around for extra revenue, and PARKING is one big issue everywhere, so I can see where this is coming from. BUT - Are they prepared to guarantee a parking space to the folks they`re intending to charge for it? I doubt it very much.
We had a period of Hospital Parking charges up here over the last couple of years. Staff and visitors were charged for parking, staff parking charges docked from pay with NO guarantee of anywhere to park, visitors harassed and exploited just when they really don`t need that sort of shit, and National Car Parks,who manned the thing, rather than the Hospital Trust, taking the profits. Thankfully, there was enough protest from all quarters that the Welsh Assembly have now SCRAPPED parking charges, we`ve sent the NCP lot packing, and Hospital Security are now just out there to make sure that the system isn`t abused. Staff still have to display a parking permit, and visitors have to take a free ticket that just logs their parking time. There`s a £70 spot fine for abuse of the system, but waived if hospital staff can justify the visitors` overstay. This also applies to un-entitled folks parking in Disabled spaces. And About Bloody Time too! |

Whilst sipping on a Gordons, tonic and lime... overlooking the Lac Leman and listening to BBC radio on the internet I discovered that Bristol Council intends to charge people for parking on the highway outside their homes.

Certainly it`s a liberty - or rather, an Infringement of it!
Car parks, ar home or away on hols, I`ll even cruise around before I leave, to find someone to give my unused tickets to! |

I must agree with you Fluffy and I doubt that the non-transferability or the prohibition on resale is enforceable. I do find the fact that you have to buy visitors permits in advance, that they are only viable for one year and that you cannot get any unused ones refunded a liberty though. |

`Not transferable/may not be re-sold` is really High bloody CHEEK!. You pays yer money...that is, you hire a parking space for x number of hours... so, if you drive away before your time is up, you should have the right to pass on your remaining hour or whatever to another motorist. I make a regular point of doing this every time I pay to park and leave with an hour or more unused. WHY should folks pay for the same space twice??? |

A new condition of use No 6 says :
This permit is non refundable, not transferable and may not be resold.
Luckily I only bought 10. |

Just renewed my Parking permit at the new rate and purchased some more visitor permits.
Beware!!!
The new visitor permits are only valid for one year whereas the previous permits had a year to scratch up to 2010. |

Traffic Regulation Order.
Usually issued by Jenny Rowlands as a Public Notice and is issued before any change in Parking regulations etc. |
