Posted - 20/01/2010 : 17:39:05 And what puzzles me is the reference to Wales. Does LTNS mean that coupons are previously unknown in Wales? I should have thought that the Welsh have long been canny ones for cutting out coupons and keeping them on the mantlepiece beneath the clock. "Och, boyo, I'm going into town as there is only one day left on my Greggs coupon." |

Posted - 20/01/2010 : 15:30:24 Let me get this straight. It's a voucher you can cut out of a newspaper, take to a shop, and get something free with?
Truly groundbreaking! The world of marketing has been shaken to it's core! |

But if LTNS is such an enthusiast for Greggs, how can he bear to be denying them of their profits?
This is quite a quandary.
No it is Each Day up to Saturday. Friday is a Loaf of Brown Bread (uncut)
These are Groundbreaking Free Offers even in Wales Areas.
From a British store.
"Groundbreaking" is the word. Some customers have sought the help of men with pneumatic drills on nearby roadworks to lend a hand with making a start on getting through a pasty from Greggs. |

Posted - 19/01/2010 : 18:33:52 So, today, for the second time, Mrs A and I sampled a small nosh on Greggs.
En route to George Street (Hove) we found a copy of today's Daily Mirror, left by a previous passenger on the number 7 bus, in the rack where Metros are often found. Remembering LT's postings, I promptly read the instructions on the front page, guiding me to p 28: the coupon (still in place!!!) entitling us to a free Tuna, Mayonnaise and Cucumber sandwich. We collected the same from the Greggs, half way down George Street.
Believe it or not, I don't think I've ever purchased a sandwich of any sort from anywhere, ever -- obviously there are always sandwiches at festive occasions, but when buying 'ready prepared' food outside the home, I'd maybe buy a pie, but almost always it'd want a proper cooked meal (even if only 'fish and chips'). Never a sandwich! This additional information is simply to inform the reader that Anubis is not in a position to offer a fair, impartial assessment.
Having said that, I'm sure the sandwich was 'good value' (the leaflet said it would cost a purchaser £1.49); there was plenty of tuna, the mayonnaise was presumably mixed into the tuna -- and there were four or five circles of cucumber (that could perhaps have been fresher?!). It would have been very good indeed had the preparers been less generous with the salt!
We shared the sandwich between us -- as a pair of frugal pensioners, battling to stay alive in these poverty stricken 'credit crunch days', a Daily Mirror find such as this (it would have cost 45p to buy it!) put a nice rosy complexion to the start of the day!

If Greggs is now a charity, then how can it do any good for London Road, Brighton? Words is that nearby Principal Meats is a better deal.

Posted - 18/01/2010 : 12:43:49 The Mirror does not have to follow the Earthquake on the first page. But Greggs was seen this morning on GMTV . Sky News and BBC who all reviewed papers. The Greggs Free ad is massive.
This is a very clever Promo.
As for Greggs they are a British High Street store not a Oxfam group |

So the Mirror is clearly giving priority to news from Haiti and the Middle East...
Perhaps Greggs is doing its bit for the aftermath of the earthquake by not sending out relief supplies. |

Is that LT on the side? I do not know if such a caniballistic garnish to a pasty would improve it. I suppose it depends on whatit is mixed with. I suspect there is already some Branston running through LT's veins. |

Balloons? No expense spared!
If Greggs - despite not having alligator pasties - is so good, why does it clsoe so early? What about all those people who would like nothing more than to buy a pasty and take it home to enjoy with all the trimmings and a bottle of chardonnay? |

I went into Greggs the other day and said " Give me a crocodile sandwich and make it snappy" Laugh, thought they would never start. No sense of humour these Gregg's operatives!
Will there be a funkier level of staff than that in the North Street branch?
Perhaps LTNS has been hired as a coach in the cool way with hip Greggs jive - which, of course, includes denigration of BlairBrownBush to qualify for his free refill voucher. |

Greggs Fresh Soup or Tea perfect to have in that North Street Area.
Life In The City.
Too true. Other food stuffs (burgers, Salads, pasta) do not suit that area at all. Whereas in say George st in Hove, they would be perfect.
Other things that suit the North street area are: Wearing hats, gloves (no scarves, thats more for up western rd way), holding a newspaper (not reading it, thats more of a Kemptown thing), whislting, playing the accordian and cleaning your glasses. |

You need to be very careful when putting pasties behind plasterboard. A false economy as they can make the board go soggy. Better using a regular filler (and quite probably eating that in preference to the pasties). |

Life in the fast lane? Those winter saver sausage rolls are enough to rot in the gut and slow anybody down - even a case of the hard shoulder, an emergency stop to look for a convenient bush. |
