Of course no Forum is complete without a little musing over the fate of this seafront site...

Other papers say that they are staying together. So perhaps they will yet find out that in Greggs you can get a card which entitles you to a free coffee when it has been stamped eight times. Why does it take Brad Pitt to alert everybody to this offer while LTNS ignores it?

How can you forget the Greggs Daily Subscription for a pasty and value cup of tea?

The Mail reports that Brad Pitt and Angelia Jolie are splitting up.

Well, at least they will not have to wrangle over who gets to keep the King Alfred apartment, the pop-up toaster from Robert Dyas and money-off curry vouchers for the Sussex pub.

Seems like some weak management at the top who perhaps should have stood up for the professional opinions of his staff

If the Conservatives were against the KA, why didn't they have this released sooner? They have been in for over two years.

Mrs Poppadum says that the e-mails sent before the King Alfred planning meeting are emerging.

Here is a view of stalled architectural proposals in America.

Interesting parallels here between skyscraper plans and the eventual state of the economy.

Sadly it ma take more than that to get a rewarding outcome for KA

I have adjusted the title of this topic. Perhaps it will bring in Royalists and Anglo-Saxon historians.

The Atlantic Yards in Brooklyn look like being dully compromised. That must make us wonder what will happen to the King Alfred if anything more than the current patch up takes place.

Here is more on the housing situation.

Will the Tories have anything lined up long-term for the King Alfred before the 2011 local election?

A report states that rooms in modern English homes are too small.

Perhaps the next architect for the King Alfred will be inspired by this instead of the promenading maidens?

Frank Gehry's King Alfred lookalike in Brooklyn is not going ahead.

In this book of interviews with Gehry he does not sound too bothered that the Atlantic Yards in Brooklyn design has collapsed. It looked like his Hove design.

In City News the Mayor is photographed consorting with Josh Arghiros at the opening of the so-called Jamie Oliver restauarnt - but in fact Jamie Oliver turns out to be as elusive as Brad Pitt was at the King Alfred.

Arghiros is obviously taking the pasta again!

Nothing is happening at the Karis houses in Medina Villas. They are for sale again!

Why not just pitch them into the sea - and tell them not to breathe in!?

I guess Hove wasn't the capstone of his career then. Luckily it never got built!
Infinite Poppadum Posted - 01/03/2009 : 09:44:37
Frank Gehry here talks about recent disappointments, including two projects which have fizzled out - in LA and Brooklyn. But no mention of Hove at all!

If this guy had sat on the St Aubyn roof after Gehry had done his worst, he would have been blown away by a howling gale between the towers and up the street.

The man Josh Arghiros's plan for Dresden House in Medina Villas look to be going the same way as the King Alfred plan he had.

There is no work going on, and the houses are up for sale again.
Edwin the Scot Posted - 08/02/2009 : 15:42:32
With the removal of the tubes at the King Alfred, it looks as if the Council's intention has been to make a stand-alone feature of the public toilets.

I hear that Geoffrey Theobald has a swimming pool. Perhaps he will make a noble gesture and open it up to the deprived schoolchildren.

Extractors and pumps are broken. Poor maintenance.
