Will this happen here? we already have 20mph zones why no extend it across the city and give the Tuc-Tucs a chance to overtake occasionally.
Coombe road is supposed to be a 20mph zone, you wouldn't think so when trying to cross it on foot....

As long as it is not Brighton
The place to be FINED
FUBAR Posted - 03/06/2007 : 18:29:59
Well don't go there. After a few weekends of dustbowls and tumblweeds rolling through the empty shopping streets how long do you think it will last. After all you are in a car......go somewhere else.....

I should think anybody would want to get out of Portsmouth at the fastest speed possible.

It is a cruel and unnuatural punishment to make them linger there.

Cyclists, instant death, beginning to look most attractive
Daveb Posted - 01/06/2007 : 22:48:11
Just think of the cyclist you could scare at this speed.
It would make them realise how scared pedestrians are when they whizz past them when riding on the pavement.

It isn't just the most fuel efficient, it is also the least harmful in terms of emissions ... Utilitarianism would hold that it is maintaining a constant speed between 50-55mph would be providing the greatest good to the greatest number. Provided we could get vehicles past Bentham or even Mills in the first place that is.
nightbird Posted - 01/06/2007 : 22:31:36
The most fuel efficient speed is between 50 to 55 miles an hour, but if you happen to hit a pedestrian its instant death for them.
But all this is academic considering the gridlock in Brighton, you'll be lucky to reach 20mph in the city centre anyway.
Miriam Binder Posted - 01/06/2007 : 22:11:29
Even if it is more harmful to all concerned?

Do it.
