Went to the hospital yesterday to pick up the missus from the maternity ward. Unable to park at the hospital I went round the back and parked on a side street. Since I was last at the hospital all the streets now have pay and display signs and machines.Paid my £2 for four hours and went to the maternity unit. On my return to the car I was to say the least a bit perturbed to find a ticket on the car window. Having paid to park I thought this a bit much and spoke in that special language, advanced profanity. On further examination it turns out that the street I had chosen was different from the others in that only one side is pay and display the other is for permits only. What is really peeving is that the signs are virtually identical to each other so you would only notice through close examination. I would be curious to know if this street is collecting an above normal number of tickets as this is almost entrapment. In my opinion tainted by annoyance the signs should be different so you can see plainly that the parking regulations are not the same on both sides of the road. I am very tempted to appeal as the signs are so similar it must be against the regs for parking signs........

Years ago I attended meetings about the Parking schemes. The advice given by campaigners was to appeal.

Just about the same really. I just love the 'People complained so we changed it' bullshit from Turton. Funny how that only happens when the net result is more cash.

And still no spaces?

I argued with Craig Turton about this as I lived by the hospital. When I 1st lived there the bays were for residents and 2hr for non residents. As they were shared then our permits were free. I thought this worked fine.

The according to Craig, so many residents complained that they couldn't park they changed it. And quel surprise! Look what it was changed to. Residents pay and visitors pay. We all pay!

I received a ticket the other day. I parked in the Loading Only bit in my road (9am - 6pm). I parked after six and received a ticket 6.32 - 6.37. The reasoning was 'No pay and display ticket'. Now, I am assuming that I will be let off this, I took a photo the next morning, but there really is no proof apart from the photo (I could have moved the car into the LOZ). Why should I have to waste time and energy due to the incomptent/over zealous traffic wardens?!

I suggest gang warfare.
Get some very strong duct tape.
Wait until the wardens leave their car and them wrap the tape around the doors.
Alternatively pin them in their car and tape it up with them inside.
Put a sign up saying do not feed.

It would be interesting to see if other wardens rescue them or give them a ticket!

Certainly appeal. At the very least it delays matters and might make them think about their dastardly ways.

You might also mention that you have brought a child into a world and, on this showing, wonder whether that is wise.

What other scams await the child during the next decades?

I've been caught by the same trick - paying but accidentally parking in a permit bay that was adjoining a pay and display bay.

This is where their argument about being congestion busting rather than money making falls down. You had paid, you were not trying to cheat the system, you were not holding up traffic yet you've got a fine. I appealed and didn't have to pay.

I bet, not far from where you were parked, there was a double parked car that the wardens are powerless to do anything about.

I can fully appreciate your annoyance with the signs and I would certainly look into the fact that the signs are so similar as to be practically indistinguishable.
