Posted - 16/06/2007 : 19:00:41 He has been convicted. He has served his sentance. He is not a wanted criminal. Why should he be reported? Why should he be stopped from appearing on TV? I will restate. If I had my way he would not be in a position to appear on TV.

You are right, this thread is not about The Who. It is about double standards. Though it started out being about the petty vindictiveness of a police officer. |

Again the Guitar player did not do the same crime.
If that Guitar player did he would have been convicted of that.
At least anyone who goes to that Band can find out about the members, Unlike the Error of this TV company.
No, Pete Townshend instead of ticking someone's feet watched pay-per-view images of children being sexually exploited. |

The 14 year old lad from this link. FACT.
Was that 14 year old on the show?
He may have watched it I am sure the papers will find out. The Policeman has stated he phoned the TV company when he noticed who it was on the show.
Why are you so confused again. |

Others have committed crimes and gone on to be celebs. Leslie Grantam, murder, if I am correct.
If people have served their punishment then should they not be free to pursue a career?
It could be said that the punishment is too soft and his life should have be taken or he should be locked up for ever.
I know what I would do with perverts who prey on kids!
He did not tell the TV Company he was on the list. The Policeman that phoned in was trying to protect the victim.
LT he's not required to tell a prospective employer, but he is expected to inform the police if his job will bring him into contact with children or minors, I think you will find out he had, just one lone policeman with an axe to grind or a story to sell the tabloids me thinks.....
ASSAULTING A 14 YEAR OLD BOY
." Bates was in court three years ago in the Manchester area for tickling the youngster's feet".
Is this the best the tabloids can do!

Yes and everyone knows about his Crime.
But the criminal on ITV did not tell anyone.
The Who are a big band you can not compare them with a Perfoming nobody.
Oh, I see ... so according to you provided you are not a nobody then its alright to be on the sex offenders list and still be billed. It is only if you are a nobody that you should be booted off a second rate talent show. |

Not the same Crime. If it was the same crime he would be out of that band
The Who having nothing to do with this case so go back to your very confused Morals.
Again my morals ... Pete Townshend did or did not view pay-per-view child pornography? He did? Then he is colluding with those that exploited those poor victims. The Who depend on Pete Townshend as a guitarist. They are therefore not going to kick him out of the band as that might mean they get fewer fans, They are therefore colluding with a pervert that colludes with the exploiters of sexual abuse child victims.

Huh? Are you saying that because he only looked at images of children being abused that no one was hurt?

Posted - 16/06/2007 : 14:54:34 The issue isn't whether or not the victims are important, the issue is whether or not a police officer is acting appropriately phoning a production company. Note it is not the police force that phoned but a police officer. I wonder what the response would have bene had this been a member of the public who did not have the professional standing of a 'police officer'. |
