So there we all were, black tied and glamorous, The Empress Suite at The Grand at it's glittering best, and blow me if suddenly, at 5 to midnight, the PA voice goes 5.4.3.2.1 HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

We sort of did a half hearted hooray while checking our watches which all agreed 11.55.....

So we were into 2008 before anyone else in the UK. Makes me feel SO good!

Aw bless ... my grandson did something similar. He'd been begging to be allowed to stay up to see in the New Year ... seeing as he is 10 coming up 11 I thought why not ... All evening and night long he'd been fighting off sleep like a right little trooper and then ... at about 5 minutes to midnight ... he succumbed, bless his little heart. Greeted the New Year with one of the loudest snores ....
