Killed off the NHS. Low tax rates for their cronies. Lining their own pockets. If they had true old labour policies today, they would be as unelectable as Michael Foot and Tony Benn. Both great politicians and men who stuck to their princples.

Posted - 25/06/2007 : 20:52:19 Having been a card-carrying Conservative for most of my adult life, I found that due to my newly-coined T&G membership I had a vote in the Labour Party deputy-leadership race.
I voted for Mr Cruddas, not because the T&G were backing him, but because I have met and listened to him, and found him to be a man of principle - even if he stands diametrically opposed to almost everything I believe in. Principle is what the Labour Party has needed ever since the demise of Michael Foot.
Harriet Harman is to me among the very worst examples of the rot at the heart of the Labour Party - a do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do Hampstead "socialist", rather typically engaged in pushing comprehensive education down everybody else's throat while brazenly ensuring that her own son was sent to a grammar school miles away from his home.
I find it difficult to believe that the Labour Party membership (what's left of it) did not take the opportunity to shake off this patronising remnant of Blairism. |
