Looks like CP had a premonition.

Where will Greggs fit with fine French cuisine?

London Road will only change when the Big Mega Tesco is built.
But these projects have yet to start.

But weren't we led to expect that Greggs would transform London Road, Brighton by dint of its pasties and tea?

It will take more than a replica of the Eiffel Tower over Preston Circus to make London Road "Parisian". Anyway, why does Brighton always have to try to look like somewhere else? Why doesn't it do its own thing and do it well so that over in Paris, for example, they might decide to knock down the Pompidou Centre and declare "nous voulons quelque chose comme Brighton, et alors même comme beau Portslade!"

LTNS has been dragging his heels in alerting people to keen deals in the city.

Anybody tempted by Greggs in the London Road would do far better to build up more of an appetite by walking up to the pasty shop on Queen's Road, a block south of the station. After five o'clock they do two pasties for the price of one.

Yes Good idea for those that can make it after 5PM.

In the meantime 99p Fresh made sandwiches
are part of even more
ground breaking deals at London Road Greggs.

Greggs are now doing a "Sicilian muffin", whatever that is. I have an image of a dark-suited LTNS holding a pistol to the head of those people in London Road, Brighton who refuse to buy one.

As far as the manufacturers of police shields are concerned, there is a sign of a boom in the economy as they tender to replace those dented during the EDO protest by all those flying pasties.

Any firm which can promise a pasty-resistant police shield will have the workers on overtime.

Here is a post which takes an entertainingly astringent view of Greggs.

Has anyone tried the cupckake shop in the Lanes? Their cakes are to die for; mind you they don't come cheap - I paid £7 for 4. I wonder if Greggs will bring out their version.

How long will it be until 'This way up' signs will have to be put on Greggs bags?

As LTNS has not alerted everybody to this, we can only assume that he has been buying up copies of the Daily Mirror today: there is a coupon inside which entitles the reader to a free pasty at Greggs.

I think this continues during the week.

Can a free pasty be as much of a circulation booster as dodgy MPs?

It seems that coffee is good for you but unclear whether it is antidote to pasty eating.

It looks as if the Belgian chocolate muffin has given Greggs an Easter boost.

I am surprsied that LTNS has never described what must be a very strange event, the Greggs shareholders' annual general meeting. There must be considerable talk over the pasties and Tetleys, and the directors challenged over their support for the London Road, Brighton.

Here is news of an electronic cigarette.

Such an advance in technology means that it could soon be possible to buy a permanent electronic pasty when scientists have completed their researches into replicating the deadly substances which comprise a Greggs pasty. This will save customers a lot of money and prevent them from falling victim to the diseases which pasties cause.

Weddings in California are becoming less lavish. Modest catering. Is this is an opening for Greggs?

Mrs Poppadum will be taking us to Heather Mills's Vbites. This sounds like the antidote to Greggs - and is sufficiently close to Portslade to have the place on the brink of fashion ( I mean, Portslade gains from being close to Vbites rather than Vbites echoing the Portslade vibe).

Ah V Bites, can't wait to visit, mmm, tofu! Lest we forget that during the divorce trial, Miss Mills would go to court every day with a walking stick, and would outline the agony her leg left her in.

Seems to have cleared right up

And on the subject of Greggs, Charlie Brooker made a mention of them in his column this week:

Greggs' sausage rolls I once mentioned them in print and the next day their PR company sent a van containing stacks of freshly baked sausage rolls to my office as a surprise gift. The following week I prominently name-dropped Blaupunkt stereos and Sony televisions. Not a sausage. HA HA. NOT A SAUSAGE HA HA. Oh sod off, you're probably reading this column for free anyway.

If Mrs P is taking you to the new Heather Mills,IP, we willl on this site require a report back to us on on servive, food, value for money etc.

Has anyone tried the new Jamie Oliver. Is it even open yet?

Carluccio's is overpriced snd prtentious IMO.

In fact, as I am now stricly teetotal on medical grounds (hah, ther's ways around that), I personally would be interested in knowing about any cheap snd cheerful restaurants in the town centre, as if meet up wieh friends now, as pubst for me, together with aother frien who cannot drink on madical gro We have decided to be bon vivers (?spelling)instead of just getting hammered when we meet!

Any suggestions?

A friend has been to Jamie Oliver and really rated it. Well cooked grub, big portions, and reasonably priced.

Reviews here seem to bear that opinion out. Apart from a couple:

Here is an article which suggests that monkeys - and therefore humans - could live considerably longer by avoiding Greggs.

Here is a classier economic indicator than the 83p tea (which isn't 83p).
