Am I being harsh in thinking this couple are being merciless?

I understand that they are dearly upset, but suing?

"We are suing so this can't happen to someone else."

Surely if funding is a problem, suing is not the answer to there 'target'!!

Do not let your mind wander. It is too little to be let out on it's own.

I agree. Nothing in any report so far has convinced me that the school were neglegent.

Nope I don't think you are. I'd say they are mercenary rather then merciless though. There are other ways of ensuring that this need never happen again ... ways that wouldn't involve countless man-hours of expensive solicitors/barristers and court staff. Of course the solicitor is happy to go to court, he'll get paid whether he wins or loses ... the rest of them, whether the prosecution or the defence win in the end, are all going to end up losing a lot more then just a very dearly loved, well cared for and sadly missed girl.

Have I read that correctly? 6 pupils - 5 staff ratio? I know its special needs but is this not excessive?

I don't think the school was negligent, but if that ratio is the accepted norm then for 4 of them to take their break together seems a bit foolish. That said, the incident could of happened no matter how many staff were there. Sometimes these things just happen and although they are tragic, firing off lawsuits doesn't help the situation

The ratio would depend on the degree of personal/individual help each child requires I should imagine Martha.
