Whilst this area is generally wide enough to be enjoyed by all, if they are sensible there has been a cycle path on the cliff top for some time.

Was this a waste of money?

Yes they are fast and will knock you over if you do not watch for them.

The undercliff is big enough for everybody to enjoy safely but it can be really dangerous in bad weather hence the need for the path along the top of the cliff. I think cycling is still actually prohibited along the undercliff which, in a 'Cycle Demonstration City' is absurd as this possibly Brighton greatest (and certainly most picteresque) cycle friendly route.

Yes, cycling is prohibited. However as you say sensible use is safe as long as pedestrians take priority.

On another angle...
We have a non-cycling route and a cycling route.
Cycling in a non-cycling area can damage the health of non-cyclist.
We have the choice but choose to endanger the health of non-cyclist.
We have petitioned for cycle lanes and now we have them we want the choice not to use them.

I totally agree with you Daveb that pedestrians should have always priority before cyclists and drivers. That why we are teaching our children how to slow down and even stop, and keep a distance when near people. We often go there and we've never seen an accident.

As said. If everyone is sensible then all is well.
Some go so fast they cause danger to others and can give people quite a scare when they suddenly whizz past from behind.

I am really making a point about choice and being considerate to others.
