Anyone remember the Channel 4 film "My Beautiful Launderette" back in the early 80's? A line that has always stuck with me from that movie is when our young Asian hero goes to visit his ailing old uncle, a former Pakistani journalist who now lives in alcohol-sodden exile in Britain. The boy asks his uncle:
"Why don't you go back to Pakistan?"
The uncle fixes him with a steely glare and replies:
