That might be from the time that the Tuc Tuc service operated officially as a 'bus route'. This would suggest that the basis for such a bus route exists in some official paperwork.

Another great day for the bus route. Traffic backed up to Roedean tonight at 5pm. Of course with the buses having to merge with us common folk at all the traffic lights they weren't moving very fast either, well done traffic planners. Wonder how long before the first bad accident seeing as there are no lane markers and I've already been passed by people who think theres a passing lane so they go in the wrong lane up or down the hill. Theres also the problem that with a large truck in the traffic lane a bus can't get past them in the bus lane because the lanes are too narrow, again good planning.

I came into the world with nothing and still have most of it left..

The 47 goes along the seafront from the Marina then up West Street to the Clock Tower, necessitating a very short walk to Churchill Square.

Happy commuting.

The road surface is worse than terrible between Saltdean and Rottingdean.
What a f£^&^*&(090 waste of money.

If the purpose of this scheme was to get traffic queuing back to Roedean in the evenings - well done, they've succeded

If the purpose of this scheme was to get traffic cutting through Ovingdean Village - well done, they've succeded

And as this has just made Roger 'big-pockets' French's operation much more efficient, it was with consumate timing that he raised bus fares the other day. I wonder when the next tax payer subsidy will allow him to raise his prices further.

Still - who cares? Who asked for this bus lane? If its a total disaster, will it be fixed? These schemes get thought up by face-less officers who are never in the position of having to justify their shortcomings eg the Grand Avenue Cycle 'Freeway'

Yes, traffic is going left, past St Dunstan's, into Ovingdean, then right, up and left along Longhill Avenue and around into Rottingdean from the north, and then, in Rottingdean, some of it is turnng off to pick up the coast road east of the traffic lights.

If the Conservatives had sat down to devise a way of losing votes to the Greens in Rottingdean, they could not have come up with a better one.

And in the meanwhile ... I sincerely hope and pray that I am never needed down in Newhaven in an emergency because the only way to get to it now will be the long route, heading inland first!

could they not have headed this off?

They failed to halt the King Alfred, failed to stop Grand Avenue Cycle Lanes and have now failed to stop this.

There is only so much they can blame on the previous administration before they need to deliver on the promises to put an end to this sort of thing which they used as a large part of their election 'ticket'

After a year in power, they are looking as inefectual as labour although with a bit more in-fighting.

worrying.....

The Argus reports that Roger French is now complaining that the new coast road has added 45 minutes to the journey time of his buses.

Were the designers of this "system" on cocaine?

Still going ahead with the rest of the bus plan according to the council in the Argus article. There is still the problem though of why we need a 24/7 bus lane system when we don't have 24/7 buses.

quote:
Driving home noticed two blue signs about bus lanes from Brighton to Newhaven. Are these proposed routes or already passed routes? How are bus lanes going to be put on a road that is mostly single lane each way? What a way to cut supposed congestion by causing more gridlock. Must be council policy to make travel as difficult as possible

On the Argus Friday Inquisition Councillor Matthew Lock admitted the coast road layout is specifically designed to get people out of cars. This sums up BHCC attitude to rid Brighton of cars.

How much more public money is going to be spent to grt us all on a PRIVATE COMPANY'S BUS!
