Sheesh, talk about having a short term memory problem. I stated that they should be free to speak, I did not at any time state that I wanted to hear them. Having said that, I have no problem with hearing the debate and had I been in the area I probably would have gone to the debate.

You assume so if it makes you feel any better and as for it being a national platform ... no dearling, it is still only a student union debating society platform. The issues are admittedly national but there is a difference. Then again, the issues always have been.

HA! yes, that is where you and I do very much agree.
Which is why I am firmly of the opinion that this 'no platform' movement is utterly ludicrous and counterproductive. You see, the thing is that now all these failed pig-farmers and discredited historians have to do is whine about their lack of freedom of speech ... They do not have to establish a case, they do not have to establish a coherent policy statement. They just have to whine.
Now, if they were given a national platform, it would soon become clear that really they have very little of substance to offer. As it happens, the liberals with their 'no platform' policy are just shooting themselves in the foot. |
