Police Boss on Radio 5 Live
just said Smith - the crap New Labour Home Secretary
has gone back on the pay deal.

They will not back date a year
so The Angry Coppers are now Demanding the Right to Strike?

Smith claims it is to do with Inflation
and gives out loads of numbers like stinking rotton
Scottish Brown PM would.

I bet these Coppers will go on a
Work Slow,
So that means - everything is still the bleedin' same.

Just to give you some background ... here's a link and links to other articles on the issue. The latter link being time sensitive.

I really wish you actually bothered to source your claims LTNS. It is getting beyond a joke the way you think you are exempt from having to source your claims.

Talk about a lazy poster!

I`ve said it all before, but that was about Firemens` industrial action, last time I spouted.
Same thing I have to say again here.
People who make a career in public services like nursing, fire service, police, or ambulance... we don`t have the basic mentality that enables so many folks to glibly withdraw their labour, not without severe cause, last resort, and even then many folks would rather LEAVE that service than go on strike. I`ve lost quite a few really sound colleagues over the years, daresay some police and firemen have too.
The other thing that happens, of course, is some folks in the `non-strike` services withdraw their labour by going off sick... not as cynical as it sounds, by the time it gets this far they really ARE sick. Stressed out, Burnt out, and All Cried Out wondering what happened to their Vocation. (Trashed by Management, usually last nail in the board...)The rest of us try to develop Rhino-skin and support each other, but it`s hard when you lose a damn good colleague who can`t take any more.
We have the best Police in the WORLD, we don`t know we`re Born! There may be a few bad `uns, but we`ve still got the best, less corruption/bent cops troubles here than other countries. And, if we want the Best, and want to keep the Best, we should be paying them a wage that reflects thast Bestness.

I would imagine the best Police in the world are the French. It's not the British Police for sure as over here they are politician's puppets.

Fluffy the Police
have been Downsized under New Labour
and many have now said they will not take this pay cut.
Since they are not permitted under Law to strike
they Will Work To Rule.

Less Police able to help people
will create problems.

the British Police are the best(even if they get things wrong sometimes)I do believe sir Ian should resign as he now comes across as a arrogant insensitive prickany other officer who had made such catastrophic errors would have at least tendered thier resignation(It does not have to be acepted but at least it shows remorse)

keep on smiling

Really, FS?! Now I can understand that statement coming from one who so often mentions her "faith" --- but the majority of us like to feel our convictions are "evidence based" .....

There are thousands of other police forces, FS. How do you determine who's is the best? What does best mean -- 'fairest'? 'solves most crimes'? Or is it just one of your "beliefs" that comes from 'the top of your head', doesn't need justification ?! cannot be justified?

I'm not saying you're wrong .... just asking why ....

OK, Anubis, I do see your point. I`m not saying they are ALL wonderful.. but I think I`d say `best`, in terms of decency, trustworthiness.I`ve known a lot of coppers over the years, and also kids who grew up to be coppers who had those traits even as kids. I`ve also spent a fair bit of time in Greece and Germany, and was quite unimpressed by the police in both.

Now may I ask a question of you, Anubis?
Why, when you asked me the reason for my preference, did you not also ask Cbecks the reason for his (French police)?

I have several times mentioned that (in spite of your unfortunate allegiance to Jesus) your opinions are usually positive, useful, rational etc., etc. I can live with the 'mental lapse' that allows the 'religious' cranial lobe but wondered why this apparent lapse into irrationality. I have had no similar empathies with Checks -- anyway it's NOT the French police I'd fancy living with ......

`Secret Strike`...that has me puzzled!
(If it was our local postie, it`d make sense, he could be on strike for all we`d notice!)
Seriously, It`s bad to think that our police are feeling grim enough to even consider strike action. `Down-sized` or not, the vast majority of folks who opt for a career in the police (like some other services) DO have a sense of duty, and it must be bad when their grievances weigh equal to this.
As for folks taking the law into their own hands, there`s too many doing that already and giving themselves political status!

Does LT mean that maybe folks will behave more responsibly if they were aware that the police wouldn`t be available to wipe their noses for them? Would there be more Citizens` arrests, too?
