| I hate to say it Fluffy and Mim but I get an uneasy feeling when the Americans are at voting stages, last black person to have any supposed power in America was Colin Powell, and he was basically only a face as far as I could see!! I am certain if Obama gets elected he will not be in power long, some internal security agency will top him off then blame the other security services for not keeping a close eye on him (just look at Benezir Bhutto in Pakistan) |

Ah Fluffy, I wish you hadn't brought up the "A" word, but I see your point, all to clearly...And dellboy the "A" word was supposedly the reason Powell didn't run for higher office when he was urged to do so at the end of Iraq War I. I do not want to believe it. But that does not mean it is not reality.
People want change and whatever candidate can offer a believable version of change will be elected in my opinion. Whoever controls the eventual candidate will be the winner I guess. As to Hillary, I have no problem with a woman president, but I think she and Bill made so many deals at the end of Bill’s disastrous last presidential term that her election would result in the US being run by a group who perhaps did not have the USA as their primary concern.

It's started already:
Confirmed: Barack Obama Practiced Islam
OK, this comes from a fairly imfamous source (Daniel Pipes), but the point he is making is a serious one. If a young Obama did occasionally go to the mosque in Indonesia with his Muslim step-father, and if he did pray there (even if it was only once or twice) then he is now an apostate.
And what do we do with apostates?
I wonder if we will be hearing more of this sort of thing in the weeks to come.

| Oh, I don't know ... he seems to have a fairly balanced view on the subject of the Middle East. |

| Really? I would have thought that a balanced view is something to be encouraged. |

| Well, I am sure that the presedential elections will concern themselves with a lot more then whether or not the candidate has a balanced view on the Middle East ... |

John McCain appears to have won New Hampshire's Republican primary while Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton are locked in a close race.
But, at the final count ... Hillary Rodham Clinton has won the Democratic primary in New Hampshire |

I hope Obama wins for a very silly reason:
If you say 'Barack Obama' fast, it sounds like 'Bananarama'
I like the idea of the US being run by Bananarama. |

Well, he's certainly 'economical with the truth' in his 'Peace Not Apartheid' screed, and he's certainly beloved by many genuine anti-semites.
However, as far as the current election goes I'd say he was an irrelevant senile old fool. |

I actually shared a sandwich with this "senile old fool" on a picnic table at a job site whilst working for Habitat for Humanity. A situation brought about only by the persistent nagging of my wife. I thank her for it every day, even though the "dry wall" work I did was not professional and could result in future expense and discomfort for those who live in the houses I worked on, I will always remember that time when I talked with a past US president.
I do not expect you, Borninhove, to accept anything anti Israel after reading your posts for many years. But in this case you are very wrong. Carter is still able and alert and very much aware of the situation in the Middle East. Sometimes the truth hurts… |

| Wrong that 'Peace Not Apartheid' is full of factual errors and gaping omissions, wrong that he has been co-opted by a lot of extremely unpleasant types whose 'legitimate criticism' of the state of Israel often crosses the line into outright antisemitism or (admittedly) wrong about calling him a 'senile old fool'? If the latter, then it's a fair cop, but Carter's recent work on the Middle East leaves a very unpleasant taste in the mouth. The idea that he is 'balanced' on this issue is just ludicrous. |

Anyway, back to Baroque.

Verily, forsooth, yon Moor doth show a most pleasing aspect to folk in the colonies and mayforth acheive greate office therein.
Or B. A. Barackus?

Listen up, fool! It takes a smart guy to play dumb. I pity the fool who votes for Hillary. |

| I suppose lame punning with a garnish of Shakespeare is ok if the guy is being put down because of a perceived lack of commitment to Israel (chap sounds Islamic dontcha know) but imagine the furore if he was being ridiculed by racist "we don't wanna a n****r President" types. |

What are you twaddling about Norbert? He has a balanced view on the Middle East as far as I can make out and BiH mentioned that he did not think Carter had a balanced view. Carter being an ex-president you brought into the discussion. What on earth does that have to do with Obama or any lampooning of the same? |
