Rocks - whether they come from Thailand or Bognor - is irrelevant..

It is pile-driving into the seabed hundreds of times over that will bedevil the Marina.

The cost of doing so, and of finding somebody to do so - it's a non-starter. These people are not simply summoned by a trawl through Yellow Pages.

So why has the Council spent so much time in processing an Application which is impossible to fulfil?

That is due to Public Anger
at the First Draft of the New Tower.

Housing is needed
so it will go ahead.

Scenario:- Major at petrol station on the roundabout at the marina entrance.

Spreads to tower block and other flats.

People escape but crash blocking the only access road.

Hundreds burned alive.

We're all doomed!
Head for the hills before they start heading for you!

No Way,
but many would want that.

That New Lidl with its bigger size, soon to be finished in a few weeks,
may do well while builders take on the Marina.

Actually it isn't that ludicrous a suggestion. Remember that big cliff slide that brought about the closure of the under-cliff walk?

As for people wanting New Housing in the Marina Tower ... Are you sure of that? Is it really people or is it a handful of unscrupulous uncaring greedy developers and some unscrupulous uncaring glory-seeking councillors? If it was really people as you would appear to be suggesting why was it considered necessary to sneak the planning permission through?

Yes Miriam
I am sure check your Local MP.

Some of that Tower will be low income
it is not all rich folk,
infact, that is the Only way it gets permission.

Just like the Army Barricks Land on Lewes road
same RULES apply.

As for the Cliff
that will be rebuilt since a Mega Bigger Walmart is being built
and they do not want that problem.

Also a New Car Park is being built.

LTNS with all due respect you are talking a load of utter tosh. We are all aware of the requirement for 'affordable housing' as a percentage of any new development. That has nothing to do with whether or not this is a sustainable or even a socially and environmentally viable development.

The answer to the housing crisis is not to shove people into high-rise buildings without the necessary infra-structure. We used the tower block solution once before in the 1950s and '60s.
... they soon became extremely good hothouses for mental and physical stress on the residents that were unfortunate enough to be housed there leading to the blocks gaining a reputation for being undesirable low cost housing, and many tower blocks saw rising crime levels. Couple that with an inadequate infrastructure, inadequate access roads and you are looking at T*R*O*U*B*L*E in the making.

The fact that in Brighton and Hove we have many more proposals for high rise housing does not alter the fact that the infrastructure is over stretched already as things stand, without any more demands being made on it ... and believe me the demands will increase dramatically once even half the current proposals start getting built.

As for rebuilding the cliff ... Have you any idea how many hundreds of millenia it has taken for those cliffs to evolve? You cannot just build a thing like that. It isn't the ruddy pyramids or Stone Henge! Yes we could re-enforce it but for how long and how often would we have to re-enforce it? And even if it was environmentally viable, has anyone reckoned on the escalating maintenance costs?

The infrastructure LTNS? I've see your absurd responses to the other issues raised - cementing the Cliff indeed ... but what about the infrastructure.

This tower block is TOTALLY in the wrong place.

Building more and homes on the seafront or in Brighton & Hove is not the way forward. Infrastructure will not cope.
Rat syndrome will come to the fore if you cram too many people in.

Rats are every place gardens with Compost with no base on them,
for example.

Building more Homes has to be done
just like Lewes Road
all these flats are needed.

It would be an unusual Council that employed LTNS.

Or... does this explain everything? Perhaps the Chief Executive, Alan McCarthy spends all day meditating upon Greggs and pathetic Blair, and vents his spleen by writing all this.

My point was this:-
If you put too many people in a small space they will start to act like rats. The stronger will gather in groups and kill the weak.

We already see this with adolescents. (Humans and apes)
They gather in gangs and terrorise the neibourhood.

I do not think this tower block is a great idea.
It is a disaster waiting to happen.
They are all DOOMED!

Hosing can be purchased in a smaller Walmart just as easily LTNS and you have still failed to prove (or even attempted to back up) your assertion which is what it amounts to so far, that everyone wants it.

Stating that is the case does not make it the case and reading this thread would clearly indicate that not everyone is in favour of this development. Couple that with the objections that did manage to make it to the planning office and you will see that it is far from everyone.

Sure a Few Negative folks on here do not like it.

Anyway
you should be pleased that your local Lidl will soon be even bigger
and Mobile Carts will get around it.
So try and cheer up.
