Yes the council zoning department is working overtime to establish the Greggs free zones. Forfars does not want to be left out.

Lewes looks like fertile ground for further grand projects and even Peacehaven does not want to be miss out.

This leaves one wondering about Portslade.

Here is something of a Greggs-free zone. A guide for "discerning visitors" to Peacehaven (a contradiction in terms?) in search of "essential sausage rolls" (another one?). Only one Greggs is listed, and that's in Worthing, which is a long way to go to satisfy Peacehaven hunger...

Here is a rival Greggs commentary site, forthcoming. Bizarrely, it will offer pictures of "eaters' wives". Goodness knows what they will look like if they have stoked up at Greggs.

It should certainly please LTNS that he is not alone in his endeavour to laud the (dubious) attractions of this eatery.

On the other hand, maybe he will demand that site is taken down as it is duplicating his efforts?

LTNS is taking a blinkered view of the London Road, especially as he bases its "regeneration" upon Greggs - sausage rolls and all - and as Greggs occupies many other sites, it is necessary to look at the big picture, to see Greggs in the round (which is certainly the effect if people regularly eat there).

News from London, among the trendy Noting Hill crowd, is that Greggs the Bakers often gets confused with dealers in fine art of an oriental hue.

Gregg Baker Asian Art assures me that it does not have a sideline in tuna baguettes "to go", and it rather doubts that the turnover on the 75p tea is sufficent for the "other" firm to decorate branch walls with such magnificent art as they offer in that well-heeled neighbourhood.

So it seems that Greggs managers will have to remain content with calendars from local car dealers instead.

Health Scare

Greggs will have to set up sugar free tea making areas.
A Tea with no sugar was found to be contaminated with sweetness.

There can be no room for passive sugar ingress!
Wardens will patrol to ensure tea drinkers are segregated.

This could be the end for sugar intake in public places.

If people did not spend their money on dangerously sugary tea at Greggs the Baker but put this money rowards art from Gregg Baker's smart Notting Hill shop, they would have something which increases in value rather than being - literally - money down the drain.

That is far more cogent economics than LTNS's vague notions for tea-generated improvement to the London Road (a flat road but an uphill task)

Hot (as tea should be) news in from the Chamber of Commerce:

Greggs' Giant Polystyrene Effigy will be hoisted up and down on the i360.

The rise and fall of tea drinking goes full circle.

I asked in Greggs whether there were any discs for sale of the brass band - similar to Paul McCartney in Starbucks - but the assistant said no, any requests for music by the band had to be directed to the head office up North.

They have missed a marketing opportunity with this.

How can Greggs be described as regenerating the London Road when Health and Safety regulations require staff to wear rubber gloves to protect them from the sandwiches?

What a dynamic and innovative spirit is shown by Costa with its cosmopolitan card, unlike lumbering old Newcastle-based Greggs which, among its other failings, does not provide CDs i nstore of its brass band and does not hang African art on its branch walls.

And, stop press, it has renaged on its agreement to restore the Bandstand!

Greggs does not need Gimmicks
they get good customers.
They have a Quality and Good Value Standard.

Costa may have Quality but you will pay for it big time.

Greggs is not good value, as this Forum has conclusvely shown.

It does not take total price of many teas there to have enough for a good time at Greggs in Sevenoaks.

300 cups of Greggs tea is the price of a flight to New York and back, which is much more stimulating than lurking in the London Road.

Ah!ha! LTNS has not covered the price traces as well as he thought...

His Greggs masters will give him a spell in the glasshouse for that. They show no mercy when their operatives expose themselves so dangerously.

This explains why Greggs has pulled out of the Bandstand deal.

Far from wanting to boost the London Road, Greggs is simply set up to suck money out of the areas in which it has stores.

Look at this Statement by the Greggs Trust. Everything which it supports is in a small part of the North-East.

The Bandstand project was always going to be too much to hope for.

Greggs is better avoided more than ever.
