West Cornwall likes to give the impression these are made on the premises. In fact they are just warmed through. They come from a factory. A swiz. |

Whatever, they are miles better than those awful flat ones they sell in Forfars. |

Forfar's in London Road have lost some customers to Greggs. Only take away customers, of course |

Big business eh?
I've always chuckled at this tea (I think) related missive:

Apologies if any under 18 are reading this greggs tea related thread. |

I wholly concur. Added to the fact that Forfars is owned by the partner of Falmer Parish Council chief NIMBY Melanie Cuttress, and you can be sure they get no business of mine.
Oh, and I saw one of the staff in the Southwick branch of Forfars picking their nose the other day. Bluuuergh. |

I notice that the Sanctuary Cafe is for sale. Perhaps there is not enough money in selling tea to Greens? |

| Easy 10, the nose-picking thing...30 years ago I watched a fat blond shop assistant in a Kwiksave delving up her nose then picking up a block of cheese and start cutting it up. I`ve never lost that revulsion, and ever since I`ve only bought pre-packed cheese. |

Nothing worse is there. This spotty teenage oik was handling all the bread rolls and cakes. Just glad I don't bother with Forfars, there's a much better independent bakers across the road in Southwick. |

Well, I suppose if the unclean kids are serving out front, at least you can SEE them and their grottiness, and take your business elsewhere. I dread to think what goes on behind the scenes.

That is a lovely little bakery. I always use it when I am in the area. |

Squirrels, I think its called isn't it. Run by a couple of women who've been there years. Their baps are quite spectacular. |

| Oh, I don't know what they are called but they are on the same side of the road as the petshop. It's quite a nice little shopping centre and that fish and chip shop there does the best haddock I've tasted in a long time. |

| The butchers is superb as well. They do fantastic beefburgers, lamb & mint and chilli flavour, perfect for the BBQ. Birds Eye can take a run and jump, I won't buy burgers from anywhere else. |

| I haven't tried that butchers ... tell a lie, got some wonderful steak and kidney from there, superb it was. I just haven't tried their burgers ... tend to make my own. Mind you that lamb and chilli flavour sounds nice. |

| We`ve got a great local butcher (though I do buy meat in Asda) but the butcher`s sausage, minty lamb burgers and bacon are better than anywhere else I`ve shopped. Also big free range eggs, in a class of their own. |

| I saw from the bus that the Cafe Bohemia in St James's Street had closed down but it is now still a cafe, Cafe Mia, and looks a bit smarter than that good old place. Perhaps the prices have gone up. |

It is one small cup of tea of long time no see but a giant leap for Greggs.
Today's Financial Times reports that analysts are predicting increased operating profits. The chain has exceeded their earlier forecasts.
In the first 18 weeks of the year there was like-for-like increases of 4.9%.
This is the result of a management restructuring - kicking out the rubbish, I think that means - advertising and selling heathier food.
The Chairman also attributed the success to warmer weather and Sunday opening.
Rosy as this appears, in fact 2006 had been the worst year for Greggs because it had not been in tune with healthier eating (and indeed its annual general meeting was still held in Newcastle, a city notorious for its heart-stopping stotties).
Let us hope that long time no see did not spend all the money on its 70p teas but used some for its shares which have gone from £40 in December to £50.05 now (a drop of 45p on yesterday).
Perhaps Greggs has peaked, and it is now time to sell - that is, unless LTNS keeps knocking back the tea in industrial quanitites. In which case, toothpaste might be a good commodity to buy into... |

It's a bit confusing that someone would post a thread about cheap tea when he's a high flying business mangager.
Surely the type of person who would post this would be on a limited income, possibly benefits? |

Shoe Zone gets its goods from the same supplier as Barretts but sells them much cheaper.

By its very nature an infinite poppadum is a path to great riches but it is important to keep the feet on the ground.
Anybody with a poppadum must be interested in the price of onions. |

Yes even esteemed publications like the Financial Times do not devote a lot of space to Onion Futures. No hope for the Argus.
