There are extraordinary rumours going about that LTNS will no longer make comments upon Greggs. If he were to do so, that would bring this topic to the top of the chart. What a change of heart he has had about this magnificent store which has done so much to make the London Road, Brighton a veritable Paraidise on Earth, a necessary point of call for every politician keen to point out the virtues of partnership in regeneration.
No doubt, Gordon Brown and David Cameron are at this very moment conferring with their advisers about the correct way to wave a sausage roll and/or a tuna baguette aloft to make the best advantage of the photo opportunity when they are on the stump in these kay marginals.
We can only assume that LTNS has invested in a saver ticket and is on a pilgrimage around branches of Truffles. Just look at how smart those stores have made their neighbourhoods. |

Without the support of LTNS London Road could plummet to unknown depths.

Plummet? Maybe ... personally I think it far more likely that it will ascend to unknown depths |

What on earth is LTNS on about now?
Is he suggesting that Greggs are branching out into terrorism?
Of course, that is why they are stockpiling the unsold tuna baguettes instead of giving them to the poor. |

Here, for safety's sake, is LTNS's post in case he decides to "edit" (airbrush) it. |

BornInHove is not one of them. If you do not understand the post avoid it. |

UHT milk is milk that has undergone Ultra Heat Treatment. It isn't chalky water that someone has pronounced as constituting 'milk' but actual real milk. It is the same opaque white liquid excreted by the mammary glands - enlarged sweat-glands really - belonging to the females of the various mammal (and monotremes) species that abound on this earth.
I wonder which mammal's, or monotreme's, excretion is favoured by Greggs? |

| All this could explain those herds of llamas which have suddenly appeared on the hills above Newcastle... If anybody spots Sir Michael Darrington's Bentley heading in that direction, we'll know why. He will be visiting to ensure that the staff extract every drop. |

I doubt whether those llamas up there are anything to do with Greggs.
Here is a useful summary of llamas. Turns out that they are good with children., and make pleasant pets. A bit of a myth, the kicking bit.
But they produce very little milk! So I cannot see herds of them producing the stuff on the industrial scale needed by Greggs.
I suppose the llama milk could be a premium-priced extra. But on the London Road, Brighton anyway, I can't see the staff asking "llama or cow?" when serving up the tea. They would get no end of insults from the London Road crowd if they tried to offer any of them llama milk.
Sounds more like a Truffles thing to me.

I think llamas are known for leaping about the place, so I doubt whether they would be kept sitting still by two halves of a long roll. Even if they were glued in by some potent mayo.
They would be up and off down the London Road, perhaps even trying to climb aboard one of Roger French's buses and being turfed off for having the wrong sort of ticket. |

There`s a lot of folks allergic to cows` milk these days, whether it`s fresh or UHT. (OK, so of course they can take their tea black) but there`s more to milk than meets the eye. I don`t know about llama milk - but I do know of many cases of babies and toddlers thriving on goat milk when they had severe allergies to cow-milk feeds. I was born in Crete, where there wasn`t cow-milk available fifty-odd years ago, and my mum couldn`t breast feed. I was reared on whatever was available - mostly goat`s, sheep`s and asses milk. And the occasional parcel from mum`s friends in England with National Dried, or Nestle`s condensed from a friend in Switzerland. I appear to have thrived on the variety! |

In Carmel, New York, old-timers were not going to be allowed to continue to receive day-old donuts free but now county officials have offered a limited return for the donated donuts recently barred from senior citizens' centres owing to health worries.
Putnam County officials have been taken a bruising for proposing to ban the free donuts from the county's five senior centres. The ''day-old'' donuts are donated by local shops.
Nutritionists questioned whether donuts are suitable snacks for the over-65s what with risk of high blood pressure, heart disease and diabetes. But the old-timers said they're mature enough to decide what to eat. They got up a petition and officials yesterday proposed a compromise: Small amounts of doughnuts, cakes and other baked goods could be served, but not stored, at the centres.
One offical Doreen Crane said, ''We were seeing huge amounts of days-old items coming in. Some of it was visibly mouldy.''.
''Ludicrous,'' said Joe Hajkowski, 75, who launched the petition. He said he eschewed the sweets himself, but ''I don't like the way they are treating the seniors.''
Who knows what they would say, however, if the Greggs donuts made their way across the Atlantic? Or if they had Brighton council running their neighbourhood. |
