| I've noticed a West Cornwall Pastry stand on Churchill Square. It seemed quite busy ... |

There is also one in Duke Street.
They are another chain.
They like to give an impression of being a real thing but these pasties are cooked before being delivered - and then merely reheated. |

The government is planning to send letters of complaint about poor upbringing to the parents of obese children.
Will this have an effect upon Greggs' turnover? |

No? Is that because Greggs doesn't sell pasties to the parents of obese children? |

Not Greggs they are not "big" meals like those Americans.
And it is on that site because that American firm wants orders taken direct to Brighton homes. FACT. |

| Unfortunate as the proposed culling of badgers will be, this could have an effect upon the economy if Greggs uses their meat as addition to its pasties and thereby keeps the price down. |

If I may, the McDonalds Badger Burger is very popular. The Baby Brock Bites follow close behind.
All with the added bonus of catching TB instead of CJD. |

Although badgers are swift to turf from the sett any of them who is ailing (evidently an inspiration for NHS hospitals), they are also intelligent and sensitive creatures who would be even more upset on learning that any of their clan had ended up in a Greggs pasty.
We can be sure that if Greggs continues with this terrible economy measure, there will be packs of badgers braving the daylight to make their feelings known; they will risk emerging from Preston Park and will head along the London Road, and by the time they get to Greggs, any assistant rash enough to think they can be bought off by proferring a tuna baguette will find their teeth sunk into calf and ankle at a velocity which will make the staff's screams audible at the Palace Pier - and beyond. |

If this is what badgers get like in the ordinary course of events, think how livid they will be when they reach Greggs on the London Road, Brighton after learning that some of their species have ended up inside a pasty.
What "middle management" idiot or "pasty architect" at Greggs' headquarters ever thought that this extra filling was a good idea?

The Board of Directors at Greggs was certainly foolhardy to ask its Head Chef (Staff Division) to create a special, life-size, badger-shaped pasty for the Directors to celebrate one Friday lunchtime the economy measure. They opened the champagne too soon.
The Head Chef must marvel at the irony of being asked always to serve the Directors and their guests food far superior to that available in Greggs' "outlets" (a word often associated with sewage pipes). |

Greggs is weighing up the option of cancelling the badger-filled pasties for fear of badger reprisals. However, the firm also has to consider the loss of the money it has spent upon posters and adverts which will offer an all-in deal under the heading "Come to Greggs for a Sett-Meal!"
As Greggs advertsing goes, this verges on the subtle. |

The expression "pasty faced" is never used as a compliment.
This means that Greggs stands condemned. The chain should be closed down forthwith. |

A very interesting piece here about the fate of indvidual firms - such as Abel and Cole, Ben and Jerry's, Body Shop - when they are taken over by corporations. "Eco Nutters" should stand up to such things and not be bought off!
Oh, for the days when Greggs was a humble, genuine pie-maker.

Shouldn't the onion in a cheese and onion pasty be more crunchy than is usually the case?
All too often, such pasties as Greggs have put the contents through a blender, and so the onion is just a pervasive flavour - and bland at that - rather than something to enjoy on its own account.
I shouldn't be surprised if they use Spanish onions instead of the stronger English ones.

In Chattanooga Joey Chestnut, from California, won the hot-dog eating contest by eating 103 small hamburgers in eight minutes yesterday. The prize was $10,000.
The previous record of 97 Krystal burgers - which are 2 1/2 inches square --was held by Japan's Takeru Kobayashi. The event is called the Krystal Square Off.
Kobayashi did not compete this year because he was not only suffering from loss of a wisdom tooth but had been undergoing chiropractic treatment,
How would the contestants have fared if they had been faced by Greggs' products? I should think that anybody who got through four pasties in eight minutes would be the front runner.
Would Greggs be so generous as to offer a $10,000 prize, or would the firm try to get away with presenting the winner with a tuna baguette? |
