Here is a piece about the rising cost of food. Butter up 20% etc.

I predict a downturn at Greggs when people realise that 80p saved on its tea can go towards fodd bills.

Walmart's profits are up in toto but its English outfit Asda is down - despite LTNS's urging people to buy the Traveling Wiilburys there.

Why is Walmart called Asda in England?

I googled the Traveling Wilburys and Greggs to find the evidence of LTNS's posting about Asda being the place to buy them, and, that way, got to page 5 or so, and looked through pages 3 to 6 but the posted picture of the CD cover is not there.

Has LTNS removed it? Why did he turn against the Wilburys?

wilburys number 1
thanks to a clandestine internet campaign
and at a very reasonable price
at asdawalmart

Here - from the long-distant days of page 7 of the Greggs topic - is No Expert pointing out that LTNS's Asda posting sent the Wilburys straight to number one.

But no sign of LTNS's original posting...

Why should a search for the vanished Wilburys picture put Asda top of Google? Is this the number of links? That is is as extraordinary as Greggs' effect on the London Rooad, Brighton.

And why are jpgs not kept posted?

The jpg's are limited to the time a Site uses them,
so if the site that had it stops using the photo
it will go.

Greggs' interest in rats goes deeper than was at first apparent.

Ian Gregg semi-retired from the firm in the mid-Eighties to give time to his other interests, and these include rivers. He belongs to various organisations, including this one, and says:

"The power of partnership can make a real difference to our wildlife according to Ian Gregg, Chairman of the Eden Rivers Trust. Many different organisations and community groups are already working together to try to halt the water vole's decline and the Cumbria Water Vole Project will help to build even more powerful partnerships. Ian said: "' I have very fond boyhood memories of walking along the riverbank and hearing the plop of water voles jumping into the water. But it's a sound you rarely hear these days and it's a very obvious sign that there's something badly wrong. I'm very excited about this project and know that if we all work together we can save this endangered animal.'"

Well, at least the voles have this man to use his influence on their behalf when it comes to the baking side of things but whether they can do anything for their rat cousins remains to be seen.

There is concern that the wrapper of the Greggs' Christmas cake does not list its ingredients.

Perhaps they are still trying to devise a way of masking the badgers as an E-number or "emulsifier".

This may surprise you LTNS but I know what a paper bag is ... what you do not seem to grasp is that there is a difference between may and must!

I am surprised that when writing all this about the London Road, Brighton, LTNS has not publicised his tailor. This is Paul Bruton, whose premises are at the bottom of Viaduct Road, near Preston Circus.

This does heavy-duty, ex-Army shirts for about £6, thick coats for not much more than that, and stout bags with shoulder-strap for £2, so there is no need for a plastic or paper bag, and it is all much better value, and much sturdier than Primark. This is the place to kit yourself out for anything that might be endured in the wilds of the London Road. It could even become the new chic (with matching pasty).

Here is news that John Lewis is opening more stores.

The locations are not yet revealed.

Will Brighton or Hove be among them?

It is strange that there is not a department store in either place.

Perhaps the London Road will be chosen? It could have a café with superior pastes... never knowingly undersold.

And if you just cannot get your fill of minced sheep's lungs with oatmeal:

Greggs to Start Selling 'Haggis Pie'
quote:
Pasty lovers can now celebrate St Andrew's Day with a tasty twist on Scotland's national dish set to rival the iconic Scotch pie. Greggs Bakery chain and Macsween, the haggis specialist, have combined forces to create a delicacy that will allow Scots to toast their patron saint for a mere 89p. Made with Scotch pie shell, haggis and topped with potatoes, the haggis pie will be in Greggs shops from November 26 until December 1.
Mmmmm ... offal .... goooooood!

Pasties might be taking it a bit far but here is something which suggests that LTNS could be leaving the London Road, Brighton for a place in the higher ranks of Washington society.

I notice that south of Greggs, next to Johnson's the Cleaners, there is a new Deli/Sandwiich/Bread place to open soon in London Road, Brighton.

Perhaps this will take Greggs to the cleaner's by offering people better food at competitive prices!
