I have never seen so many stores closing in London
due to the Car Charges.
And Ken is taking a massive gamble with his Election for London,
his new charges for what he calls Chelsea Tractors
at £25 a day is now a Vote Issue.

Also Porsche London are going to Court over it.

And of course what London Car Charges are now doing could also come to
Central Brighton.

Life In The City.

Too late, I think Ken has had a house in Roundhill for some time and B&HCC would love to introduce car charging of some kind.

We're all doomed!

I saw this on the news the other day

This could be a solution for central London's traffic congestion. I doubt it would happen under Newtboy, though.

Valhalla, I am coming!

No way under London
it is fragile.

They are having big problems just doing the new rail
extensions across London.

I’m in London everyday and I haven’t noticed loads of shops closing…and when I have seen a closed shop it doesn’t have a sign saying ‘closed due to congestion charge’.

Anyway who drives to the shops in London!?

You what?! London is perfect for tunnelling with its clay strata. I wouldn’t call it big problems but engineering challenges. The main concern is settlement damaging the historic buildings which crossrail will pass under.

Similar to Amsterdam would you say? Maybe we will end up with carparks under the Thames yet

Not very sustainable for both cities at risk of sea level rises.

I rather Ken get back in than that white haired tit who hasn't done a days work in his life. Didn't Ken train as a teacher?

That would be a real change.

I reckon it would be fun to say the least and certainly will give London a boost! I like the fact that Boris is human ... it makes him more 'real' in a way.

Who ever gets in will be moaned about within two months of gaining office as they never can live up to the expectations. The two things Londoners moan most about is crime and transport - you’re never going to change them over night so it will be the same old same old

The New £25 a day car charge
is a Vote loser for Ken.

I'm finding it hard to swallow 'informed political comment' from someone who can't spell 'lose'.

Sorry.

My heart bleeds for the poor people driving 3.0 litre cars into central London between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday. How will they afford it! London will fall to its knees.

Some things that have happened while he has been in power have benefited Londoners no end mainly in transport though

He regulated the buses again
Jubilee Line extension
DLR extension to City airport and now Woolwich
The East London line extension is being built as we speak
He has taken control of the north London railway line
Crossrail is going ahead
The Coulsdon bypass on the A23 through south London
Loads of this money has come from congestion charging and he campaigned against the PPP of the tube (looks like he was right considering what happened to Metronet)

I think Ken is more of a person who gets things done then takes the flack while Boris seems to be your typical British politician where lots gets said but nothing done.

Crossrail was going ahead anyway.
Lots of Money has gone Astray in some areas.

There is a lot against him, now.

Yeah, thanks to securing money from business rates.

Like what? He called a Daily Mail reporter a Nazi? I would have called him a c#nt myself. :-)

The Olympics couldn’t have come at a better time for the construction industry now that house and commercial building is beginning to slow due to the credit crunch.

The Olympics Building
has yet to be proved.
Of course Mega Contracts
but him being mayor was a time thing.

That granting the UK
was on the basis of London - not him.

I may not have called him a cunt but I certainly would have had a few choice words to add to the Nazi ...

It looks as if Boris is reaping the benefits of the Blithering Neolithic Partisans attempts to discredit Ken.

and Boris doesn't 'blither?' Even so, bring him on... I have always rated Ken, and he's still there and at it - a perfect time for someone else to take over, and someone with character. If only our Politicians didn't need to stay beyond their bitter end, with a replacement who people are equally thoroughly bored with. London gets an awful lot of bad press, and is bound to as it is our 'Capital City'. Bring on the maverick to keep it colourful

Perhaps a pillock, and I couldn't dispute that! I just like to hear anyone in the limelight speaking out and not afraid of plain-speaking for a change. Unfortunately, I imagine he will do it less and less as he gets sucked into the world of spin.
