There are plans for flats and shops at the Sackville Road site which is currently a bunch of sheds for Halfords etc. A better place for flats than the seafront.

There will be another supermarket. Who will run it? Not another Tesco... and why have a store there when a Co-Op is nearby?

Will that Co-Op go?

M&S Foods would be better.

Small, independent shops would be much better. A farm shop is essential.

Morrisons would be the obvious choice, seeing as they are the only major supermarket not to have a store in the city.

Morrisons would be great
but can they afford to set it all up.

They have failed in some locations.

Didn't we have a Morrison's for a while in Jimmy Street?

They were the only ones I could get a nice Rye bread from - apart from that over-priced Waitrose that is.

Is this plan for the site likely to go ahead? I have not seen anything about it in the Argus.

The, ahem.. "public consultation"... came and went before they told anyone as far as I can see. It's on my patch and our local councillor sent out an apologetic note a couple of days ago saying sorry for lack on consultation.

Wouldn't mind a Waitrose on the site - the Western Rd one is pig awful to get into!

Apparently a deal has been set up with Waitrose for this site if it goes ahead.
