This sounds like that September day Chamberlain had to speak from Downing Street across the airwaves.
Tin helmets are no protection against these rampant pasties. And these hideous creations could probably demolish a pile of sandbags. Goodness knows how things would have gone if the Japanese in the Burmese jungle had been equipped with them.
North Street is no beauty but what has it done to deserve this? |

There are concerns that Greggs will cause more accidents in North Street, where there are frequent fatalties with the buses.
The greasy wrapping paper could cause pedestrians to skid and fall under the wheels of the buses - indeed, the wrappings could cause the buses themselves to skid as the road is a hill.
Who allowed this branch of Greggs to open in such a perilous spot? |

Is it news of North Street opening that has made Greggs' shares go up 9p since opening this morning?
They have gone up also since the year-low.
Is Greggs operating an internet viral boost technique?

This is the place that the pavement starts to get bigger so no problem. A New Store opening is great news in this New Labour Depression.
The Wrappings are not Greasy you are confused, you must be thinkinfg of that dusty low standard ForFars.
Shares go up and Down all the time Edwin, and The Quality Greggs Products carry on.

Greggs' reputation is such that it has attracted an ad on this topic from a comedy club on the Wirral. Perhaps a Transit vanload will go from the London Road Greggs?
What do the staff make of the rival Greggs on North Street? Did the firm think to ask them about this? It is getting very like Tesco.
You won't be able to move round Brighton without bumping into branches of Greggs and seeing that Fanshawe in them, forever talking about how wonderful the city is now that it has so many Greggs. |

It is Nice to be able to buy the Best Value Tea and Unlike Subway, Greggs give you real milk.
And Fresh Soup.
Many will buy Quality products and carry on down Brightons special lanes.
 Many Winter Savers at Greggs.

Life in the fast lane? Those winter saver sausage rolls are enough to rot in the gut and slow anybody down - even a case of the hard shoulder, an emergency stop to look for a convenient bush. |

The winter savings may have affected the share price.
It has been found that the constitution of the pasty is such that it retains heat for hours. Pensionwe can purchase that pasty and huddle around it, thus saving on fuel bills.
Structrual Engineers are currently testing the Pasty as a form of insulation. The extra strenght required in the girders may outweigh the benefits. Who needs oozing bulidings anyway? |

You need to be very careful when putting pasties behind plasterboard. A false economy as they can make the board go soggy. Better using a regular filler (and quite probably eating that in preference to the pasties). |

Too true. Other food stuffs (burgers, Salads, pasta) do not suit that area at all. Whereas in say George st in Hove, they would be perfect.
Other things that suit the North street area are: Wearing hats, gloves (no scarves, thats more for up western rd way), holding a newspaper (not reading it, thats more of a Kemptown thing), whislting, playing the accordian and cleaning your glasses. |

Doesn't LTNS weat a triangular tin foil hat?
Perhaps he takes it off to use as insulating material when holding a hot pasty. |

Will there be a funkier level of staff than that in the North Street branch?
Perhaps LTNS has been hired as a coach in the cool way with hip Greggs jive - which, of course, includes denigration of BlairBrownBush to qualify for his free refill voucher. |

Greggs is Now open has Ballons outside the Shop. A Quality Tea with real milk is just 89p
I bought one very busy in there, meanwhile a few shops down Subway was empty.

Balloons? No expense spared!
If Greggs - despite not having alligator pasties - is so good, why does it clsoe so early? What about all those people who would like nothing more than to buy a pasty and take it home to enjoy with all the trimmings and a bottle of chardonnay? |

| My first posting re Greggs. I'm not suprised that their shares have gone up. The amount of free publicity they have been having must be worth millions. They must be laughing all the way to the bank. [Vested interests by some posters mayhap?] However, I do find it a great pity that the same interest is not directed on Forums to other subjects of a more serious nature. |

Surely Greggs is a very emblem of the human condition. It has everything: economics, health, obsession, architecture, pasties, physics, chemistry, biology (in limited quanities, given the meat content), philosophy, social history, propaganda techniques.
I should be surprised if there are not already Greggs Studies in certain universities. |
