What joke?
Will we see all posts that mention stinkingbushblairnewlabourcorruption get deleted? That may have run have run it's 5 year course. And as such, is a joke. You can set your watch by it. Take any topic and it's there, time after time. Or should I put that down to life in the city?
Good to see my jibes work anyway..

| I know ... it does tend to get a bit repetative doesn't it. Predictable even where evne a thread that starts talking about snowdrops in June ends up being put down to Bush/Blair/Axis of Evil. |

That is true, but I also like it when a seemingly mundane topic - 70p tea... - can take many a surreal turn.
To put it on a loftier plane, where, without such an approach, would Waiting for Godot have been? |

| I would think someone in Falmer has objected on the grounds that the chinging of tea cups will keep them awake. |

And Taj is now looking for food store experienced staff.
Any ideas about what is happening at the old Sainsbury site on London Road ? |

I have fond memories of Jimmy Street. I still remember working in Woolworth and Gizzi. There was Sainsbury before that, not to mention the Pie Shop at the bottom of Chaple Street, great pies. Green Shield stamps was next door. The old Post Office used to facinate me as a child. It has changed so much, as all things do. Boots is exactly the same though. If it is still there. Have not been there for a year.
It's good to see it making a come back. |

Bravo! Vokins in Blatchington Road is closing down. This shop was a terrible waste of space, it is like something from the Fifties, its stock. And it looked incredibly desperate, last legs, when it put the @ symbol in its name - that meant all hope was gone.
Perhaps ithe site could be a Taj for Hove? That would be a good thing. I could see that working but not much else in these hard times for retail. It's a new world now.
If a shop is not possible, it would be a good size and position for a brasserie-style restaurant. That could work well. |

Some say that there are already too many brasserie-style restaurants or similar in the area. It might be too much to expect Taj to take up all the vacant locations that we have in Hove or Brighton. Any stores in Portslade ready to expand into Hove ? |

I took a ride down to James Street on my mobility scooter. It was great to be able to visit the street again but I won't be doing it again in a hurry I don't think. Dropped kerbs are hit and miss, the pavements are a hotchpotch of surfaces and most of them cracked, uneven and potentially hazardous. By the time I was halfway down my poor spine was in agony with the jolting and my rather amply padded posterior was black and blue.
The small shopkeepers were great though ... where I could not access the shops, they cheerfully came out and offered assistance. It got so that I was hesitant to window-shop in case a shopkeeper rushed out to my assistance. No, seriously, it is one of the nicest retail locations and had it not been for those dreadful pavements would see a lot more of me.
HA! One incident sticks out in my mind ... I was about to reverse as I had suddenly been brought up short by a scaffolding arrangement. A wonderful builder removed the obstacles that prevented people from walking under it to let me through while all the others ceased work for the duration of my passage. It has been a long time since my going past has stopped a building site in its tracks ... Thanks lads, you did wonders for my ego! Next time if you could whistle .... now that would really make my day! |

Somerfield in 'Londson Road' have done a great job it is full of those Biddie-Riders with bigger areas to move in now.

| I'd love to go and have a look ... might even do some shopping ... but it is a bit of a mission for me to get there (see previous post re black and blue posterior et cetera) so if someone would be kind enough to let me know it is open for sure, I'll undertake to sally forth. |

Yep, it's open now. A very colourful and welcome addition to the the street - I'll post a photo later on.
A curious thing is that the tills aren't near the exit, but along one of the side walls. I hope they don't get much pilfering. |

Olives are essential.
Sounds as if St. James's Street is coming up in the world.
Perhaps there is hope for Portslade. |
