That level of violence was there before the smoking ban,It was just waiting to burst out on some innocent victim.
We have seen this in Brighton with those stabbings in the London road,it seems our society can only demonstrate its despair and frustration by these random acts of violence on others.

When LTNS starts bringing up old threads it is a sure sign that he is at a loose end and desperate for some interaction ... any interaction.

Here is news to cheer LTNS after he was taken to task by Dom.

Perhaps these people will now spend the money they have saved and satisfy their sudden hunger by going to Greggs...

Don't get your hopes up yet LTNS ... has anyone bothered to see whether the number of 'wine and spirit runs' have increased during this period?

Sorry folks, I`m still smoking...I get stressed at work, and take my break in my car in the hospital car park, and take a mug of coffee and a roll-up - boot and doors open. I wouldn`t dream of throwing my dog-ends out of the car, let alone getting stroppy about the smoking ban ANYWHERE.
Sometimes I share a break with colleagues who smoke, they are equally considerate. There`s more rabbit droppings than dog-ends on our car park these days, and it`s much nicer out there than in our canteen. We aren`t ALL violent and selfish, and we aren`t as smelly now that we don`t have a poky smokers` den to congregate in. Please, don`t `tar` all smokers with the same brush!

Good for you Fluffy. I've given up now for two years but hate this nanny state attitude that has taken over. Wherever possible "live and let live" and "choice" is my motto.
My old sparring partner LTNS has a problem on this issue. FACT.

Like an increased airport tax and reduction in flying smoking Ban is common snese.

Blair did bring in 'right to roam', 'minimum wage' and 'smoking ban' so he is not all evil

How far does the minimum wage go under the Blair/Brown regime?

For some the minimum wage begins at £1,000,000...

I really DO admire the folks who have given up smoking, and eventually I hope to join their ranks. I do think that the smoking ban has helped a lot of people, it`s an incentive for many because it means you now have to really go out of your way to smoke, whereas before it was accepted for folks to just light up pretty much anywhere!
There are some health issues about giving up, too...
I know of a few who have had quite serious adverse reactions to the (prescribed!) nicotine patches though they have really helped loads of other folks...
And there are also those with weight problems - I know a couple of already overweight women who have given up the fags but are making up for their lost habit by consuming really scary amounts of toffee and chocolate.

This smoking ban is effecting trade in a bad way, think there will be some modification to this ban eventually like special dedicated ares being allowed in pubs and restaurants.
You see so many pubs now with crowds outside smoking not to mention work places.
A reassessment needs to be taken as to a more softer solution to encourage non smoking in public.

The restaurant Vanilla on Western Road was praised, and it had a popular bar in the basement but it has now all closed down because the bar stopped doing the business: the smoking ban put off people who did not want to trek upstairs to go outside for a smoke.

Having dedicated smoking venues would be sensible thing.
I would not eat in one but that would be my freedom of choice.

We're all doomed!
