I smoke roll-ups - Old Holborn, actually, which is a very moist tobacco. I very rarely smoke ready-made cigarettes, only in desperate circumstances really...and these I find the smoke so DRY that just one makes me cough and splutter.

When I first came to England, for a few years I worked on the buses (in London). The one real 'friend' I made, at the time, smoked Old Holborn. He was taken ill very suddenly and I visited him often in the Brompton Hospital, where he was all attached to tubes and things and died, in considerable pain, a few months later. Very sudden, very unexpected, lung cancer, of course.

Life is a sexually transmitted terminal disease.

Tired old cliche #472

He gave up smoking, he gave up drinking, he gave up sleeping with loose women and died of a fatal combination of aggravated smugness and chronic tedium.

You are right ... The difference being that smokers pollute themselves, car drivers pollute others. So altruistic and utterly selfless aren't you LTNS

It's a matter of degree, TB. Nobody argues of the health hazards associated with motor exhausts, especially in Brighton!

There are so many studies vis-a-vis smoking, however ..... and the one that immediately springs to mind was the extensive studies carried out in California, late fifties early sixties. As you will be aware, 10% of the population there are Mormons -- i.e. they don't smoke!
With large samples of smokers and Mormons, very strongly 1 in 7 of smokers developed lung cancer (the generally accepted expectation), whilst lung cancer in non-smokers (i.e. Mormons) is virtually unknown. But the entire (matched) populations of BOTH groups were breathing the SAME polluted atmosphere from the motor vehicles.

In the fifty years that have followed, the evidence relating smoking to the forty odd other major cancers is pretty firmly established.

Life itself kills you. As BiH points out 'life is a sexually transmitted terminal disease. However that is not the point really is it. The point is whether you, as an adult, have the right to tell another adult which way s/he should go to perdition!

But as we all know ...

... and so the pollution of a couple of TB's fags pales into insignificance compared to LTNS's vast carbon footprint and wake full of propeller-diced dolphin chunks.

Car driving kills people in more ways then with mere pollution.

You have no right to tell any adult which way they should chose to go to perdition. That is where the issue of personal freedom and individual autonomy comes in LTNS and that is something you repeatedly and signally fail to realise.

Society (collectively) may, and I stress may, have such rights but an single individual certainly does not.

And LTNS so can your driving.

And no, you do not have every right, or any right really, to inform either Tombstone, or anyone else for that matter, repeatedly and ad nauseum.
