| One hears about badly handled King Alfred situation from the Party that claimed to be 'opposed' to the proposals. |

| No news of the Council meeting - other than that the LibDems are set to display new depths of narcolepsy. |

| Apparently the Labour councillors who were voted out have been turned into Aldermen, a term which still includes women, but this position does not bring them any power, only a certificate to blu-tak on the fridge door. |

What happens to Councillors' blogs - such as they are! - when they step down or are booted out?
Is this record of civic engagment and local activity dealt the death blow of the delete button? |

Mrs Poppadum has just pointed out that for two days running there have been horror stories about Portslade in the Daily Mail.
That assault on a bus and the people who suddenly find themselves in a higher council tax bad.
Is Sue John behind the publicising of these stories as part of her Seeda-driven plot to have revenge upon the Portslade residents who were not minded to re-elect her?
Perhaps she is thinking that these stories will make it all appear so horrible that prices will go down.
But we Portslade residents are made of sterner stuff! We can see off anything that she flings at us! |

The link seems to have broken. Anyway, she was at a SEEDA meeting in Folkestone, and declared an interest over Falmer, being a part of Falmer for All.
It is curious that one can remain on SEEDA as a member of the public.
It would be interesting to learn more of the way in which SEEDA appointments are made.
Perhaps we could propose LTNS. No doubt No Expert would second the proposal.

| I wonder what the articles have to say about it ... surely SEEDA must have some sort of if not constitution at least articles of engagement? |

Very true.
This is a matter for further study. |

The 3.2 million-year-old skeleton Lucy is leaving Ethiopia for a tour.
The LibDems have hopes that, along the way, she can be co-opted to give the Brunswick residents more vigorous representation on the Council. |

Gill Mitchell has been spitting blood this evening after hearing that on several occasions Labour voted against the planning officers' recommendations for buildings at a very hairy meeting.
Most interestingly, the ugly block at Varndean was turned down despite claims that it was "necessary" to fit the schools allocation set-up.
The councillors were all going at it hammer and tongs, Gill M hears. Nobody from the Argus there to report it, so how will the paper cover such news?

I saw an Argus hoarding which declared BRIGHTON WOMAN IN LABOUR ORDEAL.
I thought: How has Gill Mitchell been upsetting the residents now?
It turned out that in fact the story was about the more mundane matter of a woman trying to persuade the Royal Sussex to let her give birth. |

a schoolteacher in Belgium is so exasperated by the political situation in that country - with its political stalemate and inability to get anything done - that he has put it up for auction on E-bay.
Perhaps Brighton and Hove Council could buy it?
The schoolteacher would then rue the day he ever complained. |
