The Iraqi president, pale and slightly unkempt, was angry when answering a reporter's question on the chances of a coup toppling al-Maliki's government.

Hmmm, seems he says he is just too fat...?

Iraq's president heads to U.S. to lose weight

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Tired and battling obesity, Iraqi President Jalal Talabani flew to the United States on Sunday for rest and help in tackling his weight problem.

"I don't have any health problems except my obesity and I will treat it, God willing," the statement quoted Talabani as saying.

Apparently according to the US the Now war in iraq is the fault of Iran and Syria,
It apparently is in their interest for the US led coaltion to quit iraq?

I would think that it would also be in the interest of the UK and US to quit iraq.

The Chinese will fill the economic vacume rapidly
and massively, quickly improve the civil infrastructure
including rapid investment in the oil industry.

The chinese are modern wizards in civil construction
and know how to accomplish politicly and finacialy,
without military power.

The chinese need oil, they have the oil expertise and are fantastic at civil construction
they will cut a fair trade deal with iraq.
Iraq needs help and it is not comming from the west.

What help do you think China is going to give Iraq?

Trade and a vibrant construction knowhow and very enthusiastic proffesionals.
The chinese are actively engaged in mega infrastructure projects anmd could easily
engage in economic exchange with iraq.
Iraq needs infrastructure and it is not getting it from the west.
China will become iraqs major trading partner.
the iraqis have no quarrel with China.
China has over $1 trillion it can draw on, so investment will be easy.

China is heavily involved in Africa at the moment. Do you really think they want to get involved in Iraq?

Yes, china needs a lot more oil and china is clever enough not to get involved militarily.
But the US would prefer the Now status quo of diminishing iraq oil supply than to free iraq so that the chinese could politicly and economicly trade with iraq.

By John Calabrese
Iraq could soon emerge as an important new focal point of intensifying Chinese and Japanese commercial diplomacy and energy rivalry, in spite of their extensive overlapping interests and mutually beneficial economic ties....
In 2006, China’s oil imports grew 14.5 percent over the previous year, and the International Energy Agency estimates that China’s petroleum imports are likely to rise fourfold from 2003 to 2030.

http://www.pinr.com/report.php?ac=view_report&report_id=455
Meanwhile, numerous states in the region have agreed to invest in China's downstream infrastructure as demonstrated in December 2005 when Kuwait signed an agreement to invest in refinery and petrochemical infrastructure in Guangdong province. Also in December, China and the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (O.P.E.C.) launched an energy dialogue. In fact, many recent diplomatic initiatives by China toward the Middle East can be seen through the prism of China's growing energy needs.

So, how do youpropose China gets involved in Iraq? After all there is a civil war going on there at the moment. Do you really think China will want to get in the middle of that?

Yes but the Bush admin , oil companies, and neocon planners all had the pipeline going the other way:) That Iraqi oil must pay the 400 billion plus cost of the war by the way...we in the USA were promised that at the start of the war by Wolfowitz, Cheney, others. And we know they wouild not lie....

Well, China may well think it can wait till the dust settles before going in ... I wouldn't hold my breath though. At the moment the mess that is Iraq thanks to our intervention is not exactly a plum ripe for the plucking.

Attacks across Iraq kill nine US troops
(AP)
Updated: 2007-05-23 21:16

BAGHDAD - Roadside bombings and gunbattles across Iraq killed nine US servicemen, and US authorities were examining a body found in the Euphrates River south of Baghdad that Iraqi police believe was one of three US soldiers seized in an ambush nearly two weeks ago, officials said Wednesday.

Dirty? Have they not bathed? Would this comment be directed at all Americans or only those from the northern states? I am intrigued. Could this have any connection to Tony Blair who, as you regularly inform us, is "pathetic". Maybe he, like these alleged 'dirty' Americans, is not a great fan of personal hygiene either.

And what about all those Democrats in Congress who went along with the Republicans to pass the funding bill without insisting on a deadline for withdrawal. Are they 'mucky'? Or maybe just a bit grubby? Perhaps a little whiffy?

I await your next cleaniliness-related insult with keen anticipation.

There is no way of going back in time and trying a different route to see if the outcome would have been more or less danger for the West. However the issue of Iraq is without a doubt brought about by lies/prevarication and abuse of power by what are supposedly elected representatives both here and in the US of A.

Blair with the single minded pursuit of his American dream has sold this country for a pat on the head by Shrubby, a lecture circuit after his retirement from office and in the course of that has altered the balance of power within parliament, demeaned the intelligence services, practically single handed destroyed all faith in politics and politicians, put enormous strain on every government service including but not exclusive to service the Armed Forces through the Police, Education, the NHS, immigration, national security and our international status.
