| Certainly the chances of suffering strokes /heart attacks are much greater in diabetics. But look at this another way... many folks diagnosed with Type 2 are given `an offer they can`t refuse`, to completely change the way they eat, and those who do this successfully may well be lengthening their lives. Yes it does limit the individuals` choices, but eating loads of salty, sugary, fatty or stodgy food isn`t particularly enhancing quality of life, is it? |

No Nightbird: contrary to what "common sense" would expect, the genetic link is MUCH MUCH stronger in what is currently labelled "type 2" diabetes! (Of course, I should modify that statement to say the "likelihood of contracting" -- but it's still the opposite of what "common sense" would expect!) |
