I`m sitting here in my pyjamas, typing with one hand and eating Fish & Chips with the other. I didn`t get home from work till nearly ten pm, I`d plated up a nice salad in the fridge at some ungodly hour this morning for the only member of the household who has to be up early tomorrow...ok, I should have flung another couple of salads together for myself and son, but the word `chippie`popped into my head, first time in about 12 months, and the fish batter`s all soggy and I shan`t be leaving any..BAD FLUFFY.. but it`s nice.

| You deserved it Fluffy. If you decide to be naughty then forget everything else and enjoy. Not too sure about the soggy batter though. |

I left a load of chips though....Dingo, the soggy batter is the best bit, fishy and soggy from weak chippy vinegar - I scraped every last bit off the paper. My usual Naughty pig-out is the lovely pancake rolls from our local Chinese Takeaway. And a big bag of prawn crackers...I have got around this temptation reasonably well by doing my own stir-fry, on days off, crispy roast duck (baste with vinegar/sugar/soy sauce mixture) `Straight-to-Wok` noodles, and the Blue Dragon sachets of Black Bean Sauce - or a jar of real Hoi Sin from Tesco for a change.

| I use the same stir fry sachets from Blue Dragon, plus chillies usually. Sharwoods egg noodles and nuts (OOh no vicar) for texture. |

Try this link Fluffy. I haven't used them yet but I will unless I hear anything against it. They sell Bombay Duck, I haven't had that for 20 odd years at least. http://www.theasiancookshop.co.uk/

Good link. I remember them as being very very salty. I thought they were made by being buried until ready then fried. That would explain the questions about food poisoning. I don't know if that is true though. Made you drink lots of fluid. When I say fluid you all know I mean beer/lager. |

Thanks for that link Dingo, I`ve bookmarked it to peruse at leisure. There is a particular `Curry Marsala` that my late hubby used to get from his previous boss (who lived in Nottingham) and I`ve had a lovely time trying to find the same stuff....though I failed, I ended up making friends with the folks in our local Asian shop - one of my Indian colleagues off the ward was in there shopping the first time I went, and she introduced me to the folks who run the shop - ever since I`ve been treated like a long-lost cousin every time I go in there. They`re really nice folks.
(tonight I`m facing temptation again after a long shift..did the plated salad for them this morning, but now it`s just for me I`m fancying a fried egg bap. OK, I`ll stick a few salady bits in...) |
